Judge Thokozile Masipa said the athlete acted "negligently" when he fired shots through a toilet door, but in the "belief that there was an intruder". She said the state had failed to prove he intended to kill Reeva Steenkamp. The judge allowed Pistorius to remain on bail ahead of sentencing which is to take place on 13 October.
quite right i suppose
I still don't understand how this outcome eventuated.. It is counter-intuitive, given the evidence. The law works in mysterious, but well outlined ways.

"Killed his girlfriend by mistake" what he bashed her brain in with a tire-iron and went "oops"? i havent payed attention to this story so it sounds alittle absurd (User was banned for this post ("Read the damn article then." - Swebonny))

Not surprised, his case barely had a leg to stand on.

And who thinks noise from their closed bathroom is unusual if you live with your spouse?

I still have no idea how he didn't realize his girlfriend was not in bed but still continued to fire into the bathroom regardless.
He would've had to known that the 'intruder' was sitting on the toilet for him to shoot at that angle through the door. Not to mention why the fuck would an intruder head straight to the bathroom. Whatever. At least the guy gets something.

In a way, that's even more dubious, because why should an intruder be taking a piss/shit while breaking in?
Please, show us the evidence that he murdered his fiancée.
Of course he's innocent, his story holds up so well, everybody knows how thief's go to bathrooms for all the valuables im sure if any of us were in a similar situation we'd shoot the door without asking any questions or stopping to think about it for a second.
'who's there? show yourself' or shoot wildly like a maniac. but it's not murder, it's a case of dumb judgement.
