It's by PTA so obviously I'm hyped, and the movie has a very strong cast as well.
I might go to the movies for the first time in years to see this, I'm a big fan of Anderson's first movie Hard Eight

The trailer is amazing, the poster is amazing, and it's Paul Thomas Anderson.
My hype has raised a LOT.
Yessss another PTA comedy-drama... fuckin finally.
I mean, as I liked There Will Be Blood, I much preferred Punch Drunk Love and Boogie Nights.
Boogie Nights is legit, one of the best movies ever.
holy casting batman
looks great, pta is the shiz.
First batch of reviews are starting to come in, for those that care

Oh, how fucking amusing is to read the reviews of critics who expected PTA's Citizen Kane 2.0 instead of just stoner noir.
I wasn't quite sure whether to take with the grain of salt the reviews saying that a joint should be included for quality viewing.
But for the entire time I was watching this film all I was thinking was "I'm not stoned enough to watch it."
Among all PTA's films this one has the least of PTA. Or maybe he's just evolving, because as far as I remember The Master was also pretty different when compared to his other work. But Inherent Vice is just another league. It's also not as memorable as others.
But it was good. I laughed several times, the characters are amazing and memorable, every single one of them. The style of wild 70s is there and music is just raw and awesome. What's lacking is substance and something to keep you watching after you lose track of what's going on after awhile. Which is exact two elements that you don't care about when you're watching films ablazed.
Loved it, dragged on a little bit, but some pretty good writing.
