I never got why Rocket League had cars instead of just actual humans in the game. It just doesn't make any sense to me... Why are we driving cars into a ball?

I watched the video but I really can't get into it. It just seems to silly or childish to me. I don't get why anyone takes this game seriously as a competitive game.
For me easily I can enjoy it but only up to competition.

You're complaining about a video game looking childish?
Not to mention, your complaining about a developer trying something unique an interesting, which is quite the rarity these days.
But to answer your question of "why can't they make a real game (what does that even mean, is this now a fake game?) with real people" would simply be because: they didn't want to. And people take it seriously as a competitive game because it has what a lot of esportsy type games strive for. Easy to learn, hard to master.

I mean, you're definitely entitled to your opinion, but this is an incredibly competitive game that demands a pretty high level of skill to be good at. Sure, it can be just a fun little arcade game that you fuck about with friends in for a while, because it's not a very complicated premise, but the ranked competitive scene for this is nuts. The skill ceiling is huge! Those long-range rocket-boost goals are much more difficult than they look, you know.
It really seems like you're just criticizing this for not being a totally different game. Why can't you just judge it for what it actually is: a highly unique, fast-paced, competitive, car-based, rocket-powered soccer game. The concept doesn't have to appeal to you (it didn't to me either, until a friend gifted it to me), but for the folks who are actually [I]playing[/I] it, Rocket League is a fucking blast.

Ugh, why did they have cars playing soccer instead of people? That makes no sense... Also, why even make you play soccer? Soccer is a stupid sport. They should have made the people shoot each other instead, and there should be aliens and tanks and stuff. This should be Halo.
