• Horizon: Zero Dawn has questionable dialog acting and animation

this is from the lame-o pics thread but it's bad enough to warrant its own discussion.
It's like if Tommy Wiseau and Bioware made a game together
Did they outsource it to Bioware? :v:
The animation is so bad and they look so much like clay automatons I'm just expecting one of them to detach their face-plate and reveal a bunch of grinding cogs underneath
So strange to see shit animation considering the animations during gameplay look really good. Is this a sidequest or encounter or something?
For a second, I thought this was a sneak peak of the next Elder Scrolls.:v:
this looks very rushed.
at 0:19 he sounds like Will Forte i'm expecting him to start screaming about holes in his dad's belts and cooking the dog
That dude's voice did not fit the visual of the character at all.
the e3 face acting and stuff made it look really good but this is... questionable
This is as bad as something from Spider Studios.
the e3 face acting and stuff made it look really good but this is... questionable
In AAA (open world) games, there's generally tiers of production value that can be allotted to each NPC encounter. Most of the marketing material and gameplay footage we've seen thus far has been from cinematic cut scenes and more important story characters. This scene seems like a one off encounter with a side character, so inevitably concessions have to be made in order to ship a game on time.
The start of the video reminds me of this, at least on the same level of acting imo.
isnt this from a preview copy, a wee different from the final code
isnt this from a preview copy, a wee different from the final code
Preview copies sent out at this time are normally pretty much the same compared to release copies. Game comes out in a month and has gone gold so I doubt it'll be much different

looks bad. maybe this is just one bad scene.
it would be sad if the rest of the game turns out to be shit like this. I had high hopes for this game.
isnt this from a preview copy, a wee different from the final code
Bad animations/acting/unfitting voice actors, can't be fixed by code.
eh, it looks like it's just a bad side quest or something that could've been easily just been outsourced or just slapped together. if we've seen what's come out of the other E3 presentations then I don't think it'll be common to see this level of quality. It might just be a here and there situation.
It's like they got some community theater for the job.
he sounds like he's trying to be chumbucket from mad max
This game will suck balls.
According to alleged leaked spoilers, [sp]the "humans" in this game are actually biomechanical robots that use biomatter to replicate in a manner that looks similar to human reproduction. Real humans have been gone for even longer than you are initially lead to believe[/sp]

Horizon Zero Dawn still feels like the name a game in a sitcom like Drake and Josh would have as a b-plot thing where one of the characters has to get the game. It's such a generic video game name.
I felt like the game would have been better if it were more along the lines of Uncharted. As soon as they said it was open-world my hopes for it declined pretty quickly.

This looks like they animated it it exclusively using HTC Vive headsets except they were missing one of the lighthouses so tracking was fucked
That black woman had some creepy-ass facial expressions
