Wonder if they have any other plans to pull in more EU characters, Thrawn is a big move but theres another I'd love to see brought into canon, but I feel having Kyle appear in rebels would be wrong, timeline wouldn't fit for him.

There was a TIE Pilot in Season 1 with red markings on his uniform as well.

Hum so maybe he might be coming back in the future, Dash isn't as big as Kyle though, it's pretty much just Solov2.
Also looks like a mix between phase 1 and 3 dark troopers, phase 1 being the droid but the bulky shape and head style looks a lot like phase 3, certainly inspired if anything by the Dark Troopers.
they take a lot of insperation from the old EU and source books.
One of the artists they have on Staff this season worked on Shadows of the Empire, she designed the YT-2400 for SOTE, you can see one in the trailer.

They said this back in 2013 (or whenever it was they announced the wipe), that they would be reusing stuff from the EU. The material may not be canon anymore, but it isn't off limits.
