"The quality of films like 28 Days Later, The Road, Children of Men and games such as Metro 2033, S.T.A.L.K.E.R and the Fallout series has given me a huge amount of inspiration for creating work."
Sweet.
Thought I was looking at photographs of Detroit for a second there. :v:
That...
Is pretty cool.
I don't see a difference.
50th time i've seen this posted on various places
i'm not getting the fuss. photomanipulation is pretty much the lowliest form of digital art. this work is quite good and i've seen a lot like it. it's certainly not worth a news article and exhibition though
first one just looks like a shitty filter
I wish they did nuke the stupid Urbis place and wipe out all the stupid kids that hang around it like an all year festival.
Looks like any other place up north to me

Holy shit. This all looks really good.

It's funny because it's not far off
He just went to Detroit and took some pictures

SHIT SOMEBODY MADE THAT JOKE?
WHAT THE FUCK FOR ONCE I SAY SOMETHING FUNNY AND THIS HAPPENS.
Guys, those haven't been Photoshopped, they're real.
I don't see the big deal. No matter how good a photoshop is I couldn't consider it a piece of art.
If this is the case then really you could say anyone with x amount of knowledge in photoshop could exhibit art of this kind.
Oh! Do my town next!

so anyone with x amount of knowledge in oil paints is no longer valid to exhibit art? photoshop is an art medium. sorry mate, this is 2011 and i think you should get used to it
this isn't art because it was painted in photoshop?

oh. i guess it's just nothing then. it's just the result of a bunch of maths in a computer program with no human input of skill or emotion of any sort

Photomanipulation isn't exactly fully creating something though is it? Sure it requires some creativity but I just don't think it requires as much thought or input as an actual painting digital or otherwise would require.
I'm not saying just because it's made in the software means it's nothing. It's just a really funny concept because photo manipulation has most of the time been used just for kicks not actual art.

Why the hell do you think you have the authority to claim photography isn't an art?

i already said that
I'm not saying just because it's made in the software means it's nothing
then you probably shouldn't have said "No matter how good a photoshop is I couldn't consider it a piece of art." because it makes it sound like you think all digital art is not art but i'm glad we have cleared up this confusion
Why the hell do you think you have the authority to claim photography isn't an art?
it's not photography. it's photomanipulation
and yes it is dumb to claim that anything is or isn't art because it's a totally subjective and relative experience but in this situation i have to agree that this work is getting way over-hyped by the media; it's not even hard to make, nor is it original
ps since when did you have to have an "authority" on something to voice opinion on it? you don't have to be the poet laureate to say you read something and you don't think it was good
Why the hell do you think you have the authority to claim photography isn't an art?
Where did I say photography? Photo manipulation via photoshop NOT photography. That's a whole different ball game.
i already said that

How is it not photography? Do you think the photos came out of nowhere?

I would imagine on a forum like this that the word photoshop in the context I used brings up the connotation of photo manipulation not digital art.
How is it not photography? Do you think the photos came out of nowhere?
The point of these images is that they're digitally manipulated. If they were purely just images without the use of photoshop to change them, that would be photography.
How is it not photography? Do you think the photos came out of nowhere?
as they stand they would be pretty shit photos. not saying they're not art but they're not good photos, whether manipulated with a billion texture overlays or not

Photography is a two-step process. The post processing stage of photography is just as much part of the creative process as the actual shot. As a hobbyist photographer, I know that no one uses completely unedited photos.
