I never understood the "This is what you should wear" idea. Every area, group, person, etc. is different and by extension their personal fashion is as well.

Just because it's different doesn't mean it looks good. Do you enjoy seeing a 400 pound woman in booty shorts that say "SEXY"? I would hope not, but it sure as hell is different. It's the same with fedoras. You have to be really fucking classy or good looking to pull it off.

the trilby fedoras are actually insanely popular in seattle, i used to see them every damn day. i guess for that reason iv never had much of a prejudice against them, its just the style.

But to assume [b]YOU[/b] have the best fashion is ridiculous. Put the argument into any other form of self expression and it seems silly. "Do you really want to listen to multiphonic chanting? Those Tibetans just dont know good music!". "Do you really enjoy Jackson Pollock? I mean he just splatters paint around it is ridiculous!" For example I grew up in the "country" and am a field biologist, for my social groups it is completely acceptable to wear blue jeans and work boots (or even Camo which is treated like the embodiment of evil in that thread.).

There is no line, just because you dont like it does not mean they should change. The kind of people who dress "Unfashionably" normally do not get along with the people who would hold it against them anyway. I mean if you walked up to someone and tried to tell someone you dont think they can pull off that outfit in my town you would either be called a prick or they would laugh in your face.

Everyone who's seen my old picture of me wearing a fedora remembers how stupid I looked. I just recently dug them up while I was cleaning my room and decided to just get rid of them. They just didn't work out at all.

I understand that to many people certain fashion choices look dumb, weird, etc. But at the same time to many other groups their own clothes look ridiculous. In some groups good looking clothes are sagging pants, long tees, and wide brim hats, in others it is dress jacket and tie. The problem with saying "X does not look good" is that what is good to one group is bad to another. You have no more right to tell someone their clothes are bad as they do to say the same to you.
I am not a big fan of fedoras either, I dont really like any hats. At the same time I have a friend who wears one and he is happy and does well for himself, so why should I tell him that he should not wear it?
