LOS ANGELES – Pilots on an Alaska Airlines flight locked down the cockpit and alerted authorities after three passengers conducted an elaborate orthodox Jewish prayer ritual during their Los Angeles-bound flight. Airline spokeswoman Bobbie Egan says the crew of Flight 241 from Mexico City became alarmed Sunday after the men began the ritual, which involves tying leather straps and small wooden boxes to the body. The cockpit was placed on a security lockdown — meaning the door couldn't be opened even for pilots to leave briefly. FBI and customs agents, along with police and fire crews, met the plane at the gate at Los Angeles International Airport. Airport police say three men — all Mexican nationals — were escorted off the plane, questioned by the FBI, and released. They were not arrested.
Really? They couldn't have picked another time?
wOw
Why on the plane, Jews on a Plane
They were probably praying for a safe flight or something, on a flight to israel I was on at least half the people on the plane suddenly just stood up and went to the back to start what looked like an elaborate dance.

There really is a ridiculous climate of fear around air travel these days. FFS, it's been nearly ten years.

Kind of seems like something they would want to do before hand.

Also if you're that high up your words probably get to God quicker than everyone elses.
10 Years and the US still has a hard-on about security
Security is one thing. Paranoia is another.
Really? They couldn't have picked another time?
They probably have specific times at which they are supposed to perform their rituals
Silly jews
Wow. I had no idea there were jewish meixcans.
Quit being so Paranoid guys.
what's your point?
Security is one thing. Paranoia is another. [editline]13th March 2011[/editline] Physics and religion meet. Whoa damn
I'm assuming the plane was over the northern hemisphere since the atmosphere above the southern hemisphere would be farther from god than the land since Australia is upside down.
Stop being paranoid, obviously.
Stop being paranoid, obviously.
But why did you bold the part about the wooden boxes and leather straps?
Quit being so Paranoid guys.
If I see people tying boxes to others using leather straps, I would be pretty concerned too. What if I forgot my bondage gear?
If I see people tying boxes to others using leather straps, I would be pretty concerned too. What if I forgot my bondage gear?
If you saw they were obviously orthodox jews (hat, payot etc) would you really be worried?
If you saw they were obviously orthodox jews (hat, payot etc) would you really be worried?
Considering I have no idea what rituals the religion involves. Maybe.
If you saw they were obviously orthodox jews (hat, payot etc) would you really be worried?
Yes, i would be worried of being close to a religious nutjob who's strapping boxes to himself. How does anybody so readily accept the existence of god in this day and age? It's 2011 for fuck's sake. Doesn't matter if you're christian, muslim, jew, etc. If you're a religious devotee/ fundamentalist, then i'm scared of you.

Were they trying to bring the plane down with sorcery or something?
And the shitposts have left the gate
Care to elaborate? I can understand religion on a personal level but devoting your entire life/way of life to a religion? C'mon.

airliners seriously have no idea what tefillin is? I thought it was mandated now so this sort of shit doesn't happen
Just because someone chooses to believe something different to you doesn't make them a "nutjob"
No, but if you believe strapping boxes to yourself is going to somehow prevent the plane from falling from the sky, then i'm speechless.
