1/10 Didn't literally get kicked in the head by one of the engineers on board.
Its only almost February and there are already some tough contestants for the annual darwin award

With frontal camera - how could he NOT see that coming?
Apparently he isn't dead, there was a newspaper article about it, if you give me a couple minutes I'll post it

I hope he recovers and goes on to spread this as cautionary tale.

No.
There does not need to be a cautionary tale about "don't stand in front of trains".
This does not need to be a thing.
Trains are wider than their tracks, who would've known? :hurr:
Why the fuck would you stand in front of a train with your hand out, like what are you expecting, the train to slow right down, the driver to hi-5 you and speed along?

Presuming he wanted to stand as close to it as possible without touching it.
AKA stupid mf.
Can this really be called an "accident" when one's so stupid as to even consider this in the first place

the selfie craze performing dangerous stunts like this has been going up lately because some people are narcissistic enough, and have such a badly tuned sense of self-preservation, to consider attention on social media to be worth more than their lives.
While it's a worldwide trend as well, recent local reports have made note of an increase in stupid stunts like that.

even standing close to a fast moving train can push you either in or out of the train, hence the whole stand behind the line stuff at stations. It just boggles me that we're in (I hate saying current year) 2018, trains have been around forever and people still don't know how to behave next to them
He's lucky he's not fucking dead, silly twat.

Our railway authorities are reluctant to classify accidents involving dumb fucks like this, as well as people crossing the tracks and getting hit by trains, as railway accidents. While safety measures have improved somewhat, witness a reduction in the number of fatalities, you still have close to 15,000 people dying a year doing dumb, careless shit like this, including leaning out of an open door for the thrills on a moving train and getting their heads or ribs staved in by a passing electricity or lamp post. Poor investment and massive congestion also cause problems, though some means are currently being done to remedy that.

At least now, due to the traumatic head injury, he'll have an excuse for being a monumental fucking idiot.

You're severely underestimating how careless many people are around trains.
Only a few weeks ago, a man was hit by a train and killed in my street because he disregarded the crossing barriers.
I guess it's doubtful that a first-hand record makes that much of a difference at that point, though.

I think a girl in my state got run down by a train because she was walking on the tracks with ear buds in and didn't hear it coming.
Don't fuck with trains, folks.

South park already gave us one cautionary tale do we really need more?? :v:
Also I'm always pretty shaken by articles like these because I feel like as dangerous objects go trains should be the loudest and easiest to not get hit by. But people get so oblivious around them, it doesn't make sense to me.
Saw this on Reddit a couple days ago. Is it bad that I feel absolutely zero remorse for this guy?

And rightfully so. This isn't an accident. Dumbass McGee deliberately stood where he did, knowing full well that he was at major risk of getting hit by the train.
I honestly hate how society in general likes to whitewash incidents like this by calling them accidents. Accident implies no fault, that nothing could have been done to prevent the incident, such as being struck by lightning on a sunny day, or walking through the park and having a limb fall off an otherwise healthy oak tree and onto your head.
True accidents are exceedingly rare.

How exceedingly loud was her music that she didn't hear the 168dB train horn?! Fuck's sake, I've worn earbuds before, the absolute max volume my phone can put out won't even drown out the dulcet tones of a 31 year old straightpiped pickup truck, much less a Leslie K5LA attached to anywhere from 2-6 EMD two strokes. And itt'l drive earbuds loud enough to cause my eardrums to hurt after just 10-15 minutes.
What the fuck was she driving those buds with that she couldn't hear the train?!

it's actually kinda shocking how hard it is to hear a train if you're in front of it and it doesn't blast the horns. there's been a lot of fatalities related to people doing photography on train tracks thinking they'll hear it if it approaches. unfortunately, once you hear the train it's already over.

Sounded like he had a buddy nearby.
I find it difficult to feel sympathy for people who take pictures on or near tracks defiantly when they see or know a train is coming.

G-gosh I'm sure glad I have this guy to remind me that standing in front of a train could be.... da-da-da... DANGEROUS
I already saw enough teen got hit by train because they tried to take selfie.
Like, choose another goddamn place that much safer
the guy survived but suffered severe injuries to his hands and head
yeah i fucking bet, if he doesn't get some kind of lifetime issue from this then he's fucking lucky. morons.
