A thread with the word "feminism" in the title can never go wrong on Facepunch
I would love to just... talk to her. to hear the words directly from her. I want to try to understand her side of it. Surely there must be some logic behind it, at least to her.
i do personally wonder why its taking her so long to make these videos. we've gotten one so far and it was lacking in any sort of real substance... and it's supposed to be 13 videos worth of content? i dunno, i can't say i really expected anything better and to be honest i didnt even expect one video to be made. just wanted to be pleasantly surprised or something.
Should I say anything in this thread or copy paste the super long arguments I have ended in similar threads?
Anyway, to stay on subject, though what I say is always the same, the pouts this video tries to make are moot.
Also, let us remember that it is not easy to make videos, especially when being attacked and threatened by a bunch of Fedoras. Let us also remember that she only asked for a fraction of the amount of money that she got.

shes getting shitty threats via email and youtube comments, redditors arent creating mobs outside her house and stealing her recording equipment
I feel like getting constant attention and hatred, even in the form of youtube comments by 12 year old idiots could easily hamper one's productivity. I am talking more about the psychological effect of such treatment.

she was using the angry comments in order to get "proof" of evil misogynist internet users for her kickstarter

near the end, she funneled all the angry comments onto one video by disabling the others to make it look like she was right.
There is stupid people on both sides of this argument.
I'll probably have more of an opinion of the series once a few more videos come out.
This shit again. How much more publicity can a person get.

Well when you have the psychological defence of calling everyone who disagrees with you 12 year old idiot Fedoras, it's easy to deal with.
You know that isn't an excuse though. With how easy it is to block anyone and in general just shut everything out, it's no excuse to not work. On top of that what kind of fragile mindset do you think she has if people on twitter going "LOLOL I RAEP YU LOLOL" damages her psychological state? She is an adult, right?
especially when being attacked and threatened by a bunch of Fedoras..
Most of those are probably supporting everything she does. It's internet comments and emails, not mobs throwing molotovs into her house.
And this thread will explode in 3...2...1..
i see missing the point 2 has been released.
boy it does not disappoint.

i guess that's possible? im not even chalking it up to laziness even, i honestly just dont think shes prepared to make such an argument in an industry thats rapidly growing and maturing, with two AAA titles recently coming out that feature strong female protagonists, while she just got done discussing past titles such as... "mario games" and "double dragon".
its underwhelming to say the least and as a content creator she'd be insane not to see that.

She's proven she's capable of censoring comments, I very much doubt she's somehow suffering from PTSD because of empty words online.

Well people who are right always censor any opposing thoughts and opinions. She is no exception.

This is a similar thing as to the latter half of the video.
Am I missing something here? The guy in the video is talking about multiplayer games, of course there's not going to be anything blatantly sexist in games like Quake or UT (besides how some of the characters are dressed) and she's mostly talking about how women are portrayed in the stories of games.
Holy shit this video was just infuriating. The guy misses the point, speaks with a pretentious, condescending discourse, and makes himself look like an oblivious neckbeard all at once. While I'm hardly an advocate for Sarkeesian's method of conveying her views, to say that gender is a non-issue in games as a medium is just stupid. I much preferred this series as a deconstruction of her campaign:

About the video posted in the OP,
I couldn't even make it a minute in. Jesus. The smugness alone. No, scratch that, the fact that it sounds like he is recording it while keeping his voice down so mom and dad don't wake up.
The only content I heard in his video, WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE STATUS QUO THAT I LIKED, HMMM? was pretty straight forward and stupid. I hope he can keep up steam and somehow make even more of these videos (how did he make two parts out of going "la la la you're wrong you're wrong!"?).
I mean, he titled the videos "Feminism versus FACTS." As in, they are two opposite topics. Great guy, all around.

I just dont know what she is trying to fight, there are games which are not at all sexist against women and men, just as there are games that are sexist against both genders. Something for everyone.
It is like saying that porn should be banned because women are mostly objectified (which isn't entirely true). I think the industry is fine as it is. Which women complain about it anyway? I have seen more females interested in gaming who think there is nothing wrong with the industry and its products while there are a few vocal minorities that seem to get heard the most (which is happening like it is as a typical example of conflict theory)

His videos are going against Anita and her actions rather than actual feminism.

I wouldn't really say the industry is fine, it's still very much in its infancy, maybe moving towards adolescence with a few notable titles. There are plenty of legitimate complaints, the real issue is that Anita touches on almost none of these.
The only upside to Anita is that it puts forward a talking point about how to improve things and sets up a discussion. Of course it's a biased discussion from the start and far simpler things like the recent Dragon's Crown shitstorm can bring up far better arguments, such as this one, so you really wonder why it's needed.
I didn't know thunderfoot played ut99, that's awesome. I love that game.
not dis fukken bitch again.

He's talking about the fact that she thinks that the entire "gaming community" is after her and it wants to "maintain the status quo of video games as a male dominated space and all the privileges and entitlements that come with an unquestioned boy's club", and that this is the only reason she's receiving negative replies. That's the only thing he addressed, he didn't address Anita's point about how women are portrayed in video games, it's not a reply to her point.
Yay UT99

I get the feeling that feminists are unreasonably threatened by fedoras and when attacked, shoot out the equivalent to an atomic blast...
This guy again? I would be able to take his points into consideration if he didn't sound do smug and condescending while talking. And are we really going to give Anita yet another thread? Mentioning her or feminism in general on this forum a good chunk of the time creates a shitstorm and a good chunk of the time it involves at least a few of these facepunch users: shadeaz, thisispain, person11, silly sil, SuddenImpact, HumanAbyss etc. Although I'm not defending Thunderf00t, I love how Anita supporters a decent chunk of the time use the defense of "you missed the point " not that some critics of Anita do, but some of Anita's supporters do this even if the argument of a critic of Anita is actually good and not using ad hominem, strawmen arguments, etc.
