Here's the Steam page!
That looks amazing.
I always thought this game had potential, but after the developers stopped updating it for a year or so, I sort of gave up on it. Looks like it's been pretty fleshed out, though.
Wow, Starmade really grew up since I last played. I might have to reinstall.
i'm sure they're all aiming for different things and different target markets, especially in terms of customisation, realism, scope, style, etc, but jeez there's so many of these types of games now both thematically and in terms of gameplay - release dates might be a real make or break thing for these devs in terms of who succeeds and who is forgotten
Bought this game years ago, I check in on it every now and then, its amazing to see it come so far. [editline]4th December 2014[/editline] They screwed up and marked it as released, even though its early access.
holy shit this looks great
The faces are still the most terrifying things I've ever seen in a game. Starmade is a lot lower tech than for example, Space Engineers, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, what this gives you is the option of scale, you can build huge ships and stations in Starmade that simply aren't reasonably possible in Space Engineers.
Looks like an optimised Space Engineers. I likey.
are they still using java?
are they still using java?
Nothing particularly wrong with Java. Some guys over in England built a whole MMO in it.
I've always liked starmade more than space engineers The scale of it just seemed more impressive to me
Oh wow this has changed so much since I last played.
All these open space crafting games look so much fun but I lack the creativity to create my own ship as well as the dedication to dive right in and commit to build of said ship
I totally, TOTALLY forgot about this. I was working on a massive Thunderforge ship ala Escape Velocity: Nova. [t]http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20060418045250/evn/images/a/ae/Thunderforge.jpg[/t] Into this: [t]http://i39.tinypic.com/kaffh0.jpg[/t] I never got further than the generator/interior fin before losing interest and moving on. A shame that my old save probably won't work anymore. :v: [t]http://i39.tinypic.com/2gv7rqf.jpg[/t] Definitely going to keep my eye on it. I remember it being extremely enjoyable because of how simple and fast it was to up and get going on big projects if you wanted.
I once got stuck on a planet in this game, so i built a giant pole attached to my space ship and simply pole vaulted out of the planet.
Hopefully it has a sensible power system, I remember he kept making it more and more obtuse every update for essentially no reason, and shields were basically impossible to use.
It's looking nice, I'll have to get back into it and reboot some of my ships.
Hopefully it has a sensible power system, I remember he kept making it more and more obtuse every update for essentially no reason, and shields were basically impossible to use.
The last time I played was after an update that fucked up the power system. Pretty much all of my ships were nimble, well-powered vessels before the update. Afterwards? Just flying for a few seconds would cause the power to either drain out completely or fluctuate violently.
I loved the way you had to make complex patters with the power gens to get good efficiency
It's a great game just RIDICULOUSLY overcomplicated.
Man seeing this game in this state makes me want to pick it up and rebuild all the ships from Eve!
I can't play this game, it'll suck me in.
I built a ship on this game for weeks. It got so big and developed that it became a hub for all my friends to dock and utilize. One day I left the game open and the ship had drifted off. Never to be seen again.. Since that day I haven't played at all.
I'm tempted to buy and continue working on the star destroyer I was making. I still have the ship and its blueprints sitting on my desktop
One thing that basically sealed the deal on this game for me is that they're going to add life support in a future update, the space helmet item is just the start, soon there will be atmospheres inside stations, ships and on planets that you have to maintain or harvest ala Spacebuild for Gmod
So i just heard the demo is currently the full version of Starmade, except they will not update the demo anymore after its current release. So right now demo = full game supposedly.
I see my ship didn't make it in the trailer :(.
This looks amazing, but I have a lot of questions. Is there a complex atmospherics system? Wiring for power systems? Scavenging parts from the wreckage of destroyed ships? Are there derelicts? If so, can I fix up one of these derelicts and restore it to work order?
Loved playing this game with FP back in the day I built a ~1/3rd scale Argon Titan from X3 [t]http://i.imgur.com/SrBpCsc.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/RP57lp2.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/9LGZ0oB.jpg[/t] It was so large that it couldn't dock anywhere because the docking beam couldn't reach past the nose of the ship. Triple-plated heavy armor across almost the entire hull. Also shown are my other projects.

There is an atmosphere, and there is a day night cycle, as long as the planet rotates correctly to its star/stars (binary star systems). But it's just visual. Though planets do have gravity and your ship better have the thrust to be able to escape it. There is a logic system. AND, OR, NOT gates, etc, step-on buttons, area trigger, etc. It's possible to create 'wiring' between them. Example creations with these are a year clock, counters, automated airlocks, escape pod ejectors, elevators, automated doors, damage indicators, whatever you can think of, and if you're smart enough to use logic. There are supposed to be abandoned stations now, I don't know myself since I'm just building currently, not exploring. Planets have always had anomalies that are rare. I once came across a pyramid on a desert planet, but someone raided it before me :(.
