Hope you guys enjoyed it!
I agree with you. Boxes are nice. My problem with boxed copies is that you need to budget for places to put the boxes, but nothing really beats the feeling of opening a brand new box and popping in that disc.
I love the smell of freshly opened game boxes.
I love collectors editions that actually give you something tangible which makes me feel I spent my moneys worth rather than getting just a cool looking box and some digital items - Good example would be my Halo Reach and Mass Effect 3 collectors edition.

I'm glad people agree with me - it was really odd to see "Digital Collector's Pack" for the same price as the regular boxed game, when you actually got the same things (plus more tangible stuff) in the real world. A similar thing led me to seek out a boxed copy of League of Legends, as I felt that was a better use of the money that would have just bought some extra champions.
The reason why I buy boxed copies is because of my data allowance, which is 100gb and we easily blow that, and I just in general find it faster than downloading tbh

the only bad thing is how expensive they are, I bought dead island for $90, which to me sounds really expensive but hey it was a great game so it was worth the money
I liked the idea of a physical object that you can own, box art can be neat and it feels awesome owning something physical. But at the same time, I want discs to just die in a fire already - they're one of the worst ideas that have stuck around for so long, and they should really be replaced with some form of storage card or the like. It's way too easy to fuck up discs, my just cause 2 disc is basically scratchless and it's still totally unreadable.
i always thought i was weird for going out of my way to get boxed copies of games
now i know
I always buy boxed copies of Bethesda games because I know I'll be reinstalling them a lot when tinkering with mods and settings.
Plus, I have a bunch of shit I have to trade in to EB Games and it's good to use this to get games that I would either prefer in boxes (Such as Bethesda games) or games you have to get in boxes (Such as Halo: Custom Edition)
Can't agree with you on the point of costs in Australia. For instance, Super Mario Galaxy? Still 70 dollars. Fallout 3? 80 dollars. A brand new game? 100 dollars, sometimes 110, and for some games, 120.
Australia kind of sucks if you're a console gamer. Downloading games at American prices is ridiculously cheap. I showed a friend who's used to console games Steam, and his reaction to the Steam prices, even the higher ones at 40 and 50 dollars, was "Holy shit that's cheap".
Game/DVD boxes are the ultimate bug catching utensil
I enjoy boxed copies that come with physical extras. I would have more of them if the closest games store near me wasn't EB Games who from experience charge 3x the RRP then say they're having a 50% off sale all the time.
Buying a boxed copy online isn't appealing to me as the shipping times to Australia in most cases are just ludicrous along with the cost for such shipping, that said I could purchase some from Australian stores but most don't stock the special editions with the fancy items inside I'm interested in.

And by RRP I mean the "Australian RRP" which is still double the American one.
