But when he leaned on the door, it turned out to be unlocked, the report said. It was the last car in the train, so the man tumbled out onto the railway. Though he was unhurt, the passenger found himself stranded in Siberian taiga at nighttime, wearing nothing but a T-shirt, sweats and slippers. To avoid death by hypothermia – the thermometer stood at minus 40 degrees Celsius – he chased the train, police said.
source
Give that man a medal.
That's some badass shit right there.
In modern Russia, you chase train. In Soviet Russia, train chases YOU! On a side note, experienced -20C today. -40 must be insanely cold... (User was banned for this post ("Meme reply" - Craptasket))
The coolest thing about -40C is that it's the exact same at -40F Just thought I should share that

I just came to look at the train pictures. But the chase was cool too, good work mate.
and I thought running 1 km in -17 C was bad.
And im too pussy to run some laps at -5°C and loose some of that christmas chocolate
why is russia so big
If any of you have ever been on a Siberian railroad trip, it's pretty much a rule of thumb that you need to be piss drunk because there's no real onboard entertainment and the legs on the trip can stretch pretty far. Vodka is a travellers favorite on some of these trains and I would put a fair bit of money that not only was this guy a little bit tipsy, the fact he was somewhat inebriated probably saved his life. It only adds to the badassery, if it's true.
If I knew I was going to freeze to death, I'd chase a train 7 km too. I doubt I could do it though, this guy's a tank.
The 42-year-old said: 'I don't know how I didn't freeze'
vodka instead of blood in his veins
Ah vodka, life's fuel.
How long did he run for?
How long did he run for?
After extensive analysis of the OP I've found the answer to this question 7 km
Proof in the event of a nuclear winter only the russians will survive.
why is russia so big
It's probably due to the fact that nearly every single time anyone tries to take Russia, they lose badly. Think Napoleon and Hitler since those invasions completely destroyed both forces. The only army to ever take Russia was the Mongolians if I am nit mistaken.
After extensive analysis of the OP I've found the answer to this question 7 km
He said how long, not how far. This guy was pretty lucky to be fair.

It was just a bunch of scattered kingdoms and duchies. They technically didn't take it, since they were stopped before they smacked Novgorod. [editline]24th January 2013[/editline] Russia more or less grew because there wasn't a whole lot of opposition in Siberia, besides the cold. And that's why to this day, Siberia remains barely populated and more of a giant resource farm and railway from the east and west.
I've been in -40 when I lived in Northern Alberta. With enough layers on, you don't feel the cold, but I just can't imagine running when it's -40 out for that distance

Vodka and potatoes.
Proof in the event of a nuclear winter only the russians will survive.
Nah, us Canadians would share a beer with them while we laugh at the rest of the world
Nah, us Canadians would share a beer with them while we laugh at the rest of the world
Canada only has three good things: maple syrup and a good educational system.
I guess if you run fast enough or keep your mind off it you don't freeze
Just over 4 miles... Not that bad in terms of distance If he was desperate it would have only taken him 26 mins
Just over 4 miles... Not that bad in terms of distance If he was desperate it would have only taken him 26 mins
But, he 'went for a smoke', meaning he's a smoker and even then chased a train, when most smokers can't even catch the bus.
VODKA RUSSIANS LOL!!!!!!1
