As horrifying as nuclear weapons are, I still find their effects interesting.
Did they just round up a bunch of animals and set off a nuke? Poor animals :(
Sometimes I wish I had powers like Dr. Manhattan and end this shit
The blimp was actually pretty cool
Why are the soldiers running around with weapons? Incase a portal is torn to another dimension?
Why are the soldiers running around with weapons? Incase a portal is torn to another dimension?
Military exercise.
Sometimes I wish I had powers like Dr. Manhattan and end this shit
End footage from 1967?
Oh no! teh poor animalz! dey died! Well boo-fucking-hoo.
Jesus the animals were part of a test and you bitch, but you eat animals and don't care. Deal with it
There is a difference. Humans needs meat to be healthy, but do we need nuclear weapons? No, we don't. Those animals could have been saved and be to better use (meat, perhaps).
Actually we need neither. A vegan diet is perfectly sufficient if done right. I've been meat free for nearly 2 years now as a vegetarian. But that's not to say that we shouldn't as a whole eat meat nor should we not make use of animals for scientific furtherment. You gotta remember this was 1957, we didn't have a total understanding of nukes yet, the Soviets had only had their for 6 years and the US was still figuring out radiation at this point. It wasn't like they were just killing the pigs to kill them, there was scientific meaning behind it. This is around the same time we were doing this: Y'know, detonating atomic bombs close-range to soldiers and having them walk towards it for a war game. We really had no clue what we were dealing with here at this time. Irresponsible? Yea. Necessary? At the time.
Imagine right if we got rid of all the nukes in the world, great idea, but no countries are greedy and hey let's test it on some animals, now okay we eat meat, we do it humanely but they fucking nuked the poor things!

But then again that could have turned out the opposite.
Well really you could argue that nukes helped us avoid a war with Russia, avoiding millions of deaths. But then again that could have turned out the opposite.
Could have saved us, but it most certainly would have went to war with the Soviets had we not had a nuclear deterrent. We were revving up for it before the Japanese surrender, the only reason the Soviets didn't just plow through American lines in Korea when they swooped through Manchuria is because we were able to barter them a deal. Our surrender deal with Japan included that Japanese troops in China would not surrender to Soviet forces, we were able to trade that for them not going past the border in Korea. For nearly 7 years after the war ended the Soviets had a stronger military than us, the only thing that physically stopped them from marching their ass to Paris was our atomic bomb, and we all knew that. The US and UK drew up plans for preemptive and defensive invasion pretty much the day we settled the post-war borders.
Stop complaining. They died instantly.
Working with animals most my life, I really don't think I want to stop complaining about these imbiceles, societys a fucked up shit fest.

they did more tests with animals, especially pigs. For example, this one (Note: pigs scream in the next video) [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline] might help to mute the video once they get to the pig part, the sound is really awful. [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline] [sp]on the good side, you got instant bacon[/sp]
Why post this?
There is animal testing that is worse than simple nuking. They don't kill these animals for the fun of it. Pigs are close human analogs and what could help protect a pig could possibly save a person. I mean, if you don't want to sacrifice animals in tests that could potentially benefit our safety, then you can always be like the Japanese. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_731 Nothing better than putting some live people on posts and detonating grenades in the middle of them. Oh, and America didn't prosecute the physicians of the facility in return for his research data since nobody else had lab results for testing on actual humans.
En bref You say "poor animals". He says but we eat meat. You say "that means they die for a cause". I say "We eat way too much meat for that argument to be valid" This will go on forever so please: http://www.facepunch.com/forums/403
As horrifying as nuclear weapons are, I still find their effects interesting.
Their effects are absolutely strange. The bomb that blew up over Hiroshima destroyed practically everything within the cities boundaries and yet the single building that stood directly under the bomb survived in nearly perfect condition. Poor piggies
OP's video goes well with Roses by Silverchair in the background
t*video*
That voice... Oh god this is about as annoying as a PETA video.
