Combining virtual reality with a drift track, pretty neat. [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX_HAIOQYes[/hd] [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkobHlXKFY8[/hd] Verge's article: http://www.theverge.com/2015/5/26/8645899/castrol-virtual-drift-oculus-gear-vr-racing
Please tell me they're gonna release a video with a side by side view of what the driver sees and what's actually happening. They honestly didn't need vr for anything they showed in the video. It could've "easily" been done without it. Also, that animation remind me of that shitty Hotwheels animated series from early 2000's.
neat
so if I crash and die in the game, can I finally say I'll die in real life?
I feel like this can be incredibly unsafe, but incredibly awesome at the same time.
Existing location sensors aren’t fast or accurate enough to correctly plot where he is, so all this other data is used to estimate where he’s probably headed in the game. But unless those calculations are perfect, what’s happening on the course only matches the game for short periods of time.
Seems like a cool idea but kinda impracticable. I don't see this working on conventional track, only in a open environment like they show in the video. I'd rather just drift like a normal person. The video has good editing though.
Looks like a bad Fast and Furious knock off.
Neat concept, but I doubt it's as smooth as they show in the video.
well done, but god damn the dumb UI and audio additions. Was half tempted to stop the video when barely turning the wheel during calibration went whuuUUOOOP
Seems like a cool idea but kinda impracticable.
