Thank god, now I can sleep at night knowing that these criminals are getting a swift kick of justice.
My mom used to work at a local drug store in town - she would have this couple come in and buy as much soda pop as they could with their food stamps. They would take the cases outside and dump every can of pop down the sewer drain, come back in, and exchange the cans to get their bottle deposit back and then buy cigarettes. Fucking despicable. I want to know why you can buy 80% of the shit you can with food stamps. Why can you buy pop and candy? You should be restricted to sacks of rice/beans, loaves of bread and blocks of cheese - basic shit. Shit that isn't extravagant, but feeds you just fine.
This just in food stamp fraud down to 0% Taxes cancelled.

when I was little I always though food stamps were actual like postage stamps.
when I was little I always though food stamps were actual like postage stamps.
your supposed to eat the stamp like in willy wonka
A life time ban on the food stamp program seems excessive already. I can't imagine being able to pay a fine of $2500 when you're already on food stamps.

I can get behind people that need food stamps... but this shit? There's a difference between being poor, and willingly abusing the system because you're a lazy asshole.
20 dollars for 70 dollars worth of food? Sounds like a bargain.
so how does this cost the taxpayer money? Isn't the foodstamp money already considered spent anyway? I know selling your foodstamp is illegal and wrong and all that. But I can't see how this affects the tax payer. Is it because of the taxes on food?

Abuse of it sucks, yea, but then fix the abuse, don't target the poor because a small percent of people abuse the system. If you want to see a system like you're proposing look at the WIC system. It fucking sucks. It meters out the ounces of each type of item allowed, the box sizes, the brands, and the type of food. It's a terror to work with and god forbid that anyone would have to live on it. WIC is only a supplement for new parents, though, and thankfully is not a full foodstamp program. They have the money that they need right on the card, are you dense? Why would they forfeit 70 dollars in food, for 20 dollars in cash? Because you need cash to buy drugs. Most people who sell their food stamp money are buying illegal things with the money. It's not just a small problem, either. There are many, many abusers of the system. The first part of my early adult life was spent in poverty. Not ONE time did I think "gosh I really need extra cash, I better sell my food stamps". No, all you think about is food, because that's the one thing you get to have that's nice that the government will pay for. Food stamps were my fucking life. Poor people must somehow eat the shittiest food to survive, the cheapest crap filled with the most salt/sugars... oh weight, we have obesity on the rise? Health problems rising? Why don't these poor people just... DIET PROPERLY! Goddamn logic people, it's so difficult, it's easier to read the bible.
