Howdy, folks!
So, in light of the Konami LA Shutdown which occurred fairly recently, I decided to whip this up with the help of a few able bodies. Now, as most are aware, Konami's Japan Studio has taken control of MGO3 and will be handling whatever future content awaits, and this was ultimately nothing new if people were paying attention back when the announcement first came in March or April. Nonetheless, with all the talk of people saying "MGO3 is dead already," I figured this was topical.

I'll also be uploading a shorter version that ends at the 2 minute marker in case the punchline falls flat. Or if my "young voice" is grating, because for whatever reason, doing that voice really left me with a kind of "Super Dave" thing going for a few hours, heh.
Either way, hope you good folks enjoy!
And here is the "action only" version in case the punchline of the original was a dud:

Is it really dead, or is it getting better? I've been on a back log of games to play and never got around to playing TPP or it's multiplayer yet.

TPP itself is a good game, i enjoyed it. The online as of right now is just FOB infiltration which is kinda lack luster.
Once MGO is out I know it is going to bring a lot of people back. Looks great so far.

But MGO is out?

Depends on the Japanese Studio, all future development is being taken care of in some Japanese studio under Konami and they seem to be more competent than the LA studio.
For one, their main source of giving out information is The Phantom Pain's website like what Bungie and 343i do and not fucking twitter.
Is it really dead, or is it getting better? I've been on a back log of games to play and never got around to playing TPP or it's multiplayer yet.
People exaggerate. That was the main reason I actually made this video. Because it was public knowledge for months, and no one expected MGO3 to do anywhere near as well as current online games, but once the Battlefront beta was released, the amount of players just cut down to a fraction of what it once was.
Bottom line is that it's doing as well as any Metal Gear Online game could possibly do, which is to say...never ever as great as more mainstream multiplayer games. The numbers are a bit iffier on servers because, unlike MGO2, this wasn't released until a month after the main games initial release, and with all the new titles coming out, people could just as easily discard MGSV and get into the new games without having ever experienced MGO3, despite MGSV being an absolutely fantastic game. The game itself plays amazingly well, better than any MGO to date, I would say.
However, it just needs more content. It currently has only 5 maps, like MGO2 started out with, only the maps in this case are much more mechanically sound and engaging, and each one has "Rush Mode" which essentially turns any map into Killhouse A from MGO1. The disadvantage is that it only has 3 modes, and while those modes; Bounty Hunter especially, are far more intricate than the starter modes MGO2 had...it's still only 3 game modes. And it also suffered a lot of technical issues at launch, as well as the pain of PvP Servers, where a host can end or disconnect and not only does the game end prematurely, but all XP earned is lost. Fortunately, the December patch is finally implementing Host Migration to prevent all that.
That said, there's definitely more to come for MGO3, just like there's more to come for FOB. And I believe without question that once MGO3 gets some REAL content to it, more uniques, maps, gear, and modes especially, we'll start to see much higher numbers. And like someone else said, PC players are bound to be in for a much better time since they won't have to deal with any of the launch issues console players dealt with.

The Nuke aspect alone was very fascinating because for once, online multiplayer has an ending we can all work together to achieve. Also, the December patch is going to make FOB substantially more intense, because not only will Free-Placement Gun-Cameras be implemented, where we visit our FOB, and personally place our cameras wherever we want, but Raiden will become playable with his wormhole teleportation escape and a secret weapon we've yet to see him use in-game.
AND we can finally use The Skulls as security for our FOB, essentially turning your FOB into a Skulls Boss Battle in which you can team up with The Skulls to take down attacking players. You can actually see all three of these new features in action in the link below:

I always wanted to try MGO2 despite hearing that it was horribly broken in a variety of ways. At least I have MGO3 on PC to look forward to :v:

MOG2 was really fun but like you said, the fact that it was P2P was the main reason it was horribly broken since having a bad host seriously degraded gameplay. I guess that isn't much different from other console games, though.
What I did like a lot about it was that you could unlock and level up skills which let you basically choose one or two nice perks for a game depending on how you wanted to play it. I believe they are making a return for the new MGO.

Higher skills give you a real edge in-game, such as tossing grenades that explode on impact instead of bounce, fulton punching, stealth camouflage, and so on. What I personally appreciate was how they did away with the box and instant headshots that made the previous Metal Gear Online feel so one sided. It just needs more modes and maps to really put all these skills to proper use.

I liked MGO2, for some reason it felt like teamwork really mattered than the multiplayer games I frequent besides Team Fortress 2. The customization really helped in the immersion too. Sadly most of my buddies quit before the servers shut down and I was put in a 10 minute match tha already started. I'll defintely give MGO3 a try once my backlog for games is cleared. I'll probably do a PS4 group for this game when I get the chance.

For me, the real issue isn't that there are too few maps, because the maps are fantastic and mechanically sound, and 'rush' mode makes each one essentially a 'Killhouse' from MGO1. Rather, the issue is that there's only so much mileage you can get with just 3 modes, regardless of how enjoyable as each one might be. I'm confident Konami Japan will rectify that, I just hope it's sooner rather than later.
MGO3 is really fun with friends but it is very bullshit. PS4 players fucking suck ass because the PS4 comes with a mic which almost all the players refuse to use so if the other team is using teamwork, you're going to lose horribly

I have never once used a mic on any online game, and with MGO3, teamwork is always viable, since we buddy spawn, guard each other, shoot down fultoned teammates, and pair up usually for comms. Some teams may coordinate better, but I've never had a match where teamwork and general skill didn't lead to victory when it was viable, and it's certainly been viable for the vast duration of matches I've had.
Then again, it could be timezones, as I only ever play video games very late at night due to work and freelance occupying the daytime.
