• My one-a-day piano cover challenge..

I didn't want to clog up the forum with lots of my posts, so I'm hoping it'd be alright to just reply to this when I make new videos. For the past few days I've been pushing myself to upload one cover a day. It's been going well so far! 31/10/16 30/10/16 29/10/16 28/10/16 27/10/16 26/10/16 Older videos >> https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7j6CgVq4TcUh4VUok7zVAA I'm trying to improve, so any comments/criticisms will help a lot.
What's up with the last 10 seconds from the Panzerlied cover
Do you play by ear, tutorials, or sheet music? I liked the Still Alive cover, the vocals seem more difficult than the instrumentals Requesting that you play this next as there's few good covers of it
Man, i miss playing the piano so much. As a small advice, i'd probably be a good idea to pay more attention to keeping the tempo steady, but considering those are just one day covers, it may probably be due to the simple lack of time to practice the pieces.
dam son, it took me like an entire summer to learn river flows in you. in my defence tho it was the first song i learned
Theres a piano in the main hallway of my university and its just so awesome whenever someone starts playing something and people recognise it. [editline]30th October 2016[/editline] It sounds awesome, keep it up!
What's up with the last 10 seconds from the Panzerlied cover
don't ask
Do you play by ear, tutorials, or sheet music? I find when I play with a metronome the song sounds lifeless, but without it goes all over the place. I suppose that'll just come with more practice. I looked at some of your covers, they're pretty good! That keyboard looks like the one I had before my roland. Very impressive. How long you've been playing for?
Very impressive. How long you've been playing for?
since I was 11, so 10 years probably. Never had any kind of training for it though.

Awesome cover. My favourite song from Coulton. It can't get any better.
try covering an EDM song. Jweihaas has done some pretty incredible ones already. I am currently working on this one: About more than half way through it.
Ive just started learning/playing the piano, and it always amazes me when people figure out these songs by ear. I can slowly figure out parts of a melody by ear, but when it comes to chords Im lost. Do you have any advice for that, aside from just practicing?

It will naturally progress your ability to hear tones. Possibly, you could play pitches on your phone and you try to match them on the piano, sort of like how you would with flashcards. I haven't really tried that, but I imagine that would work effectively. A major point to playing music by ear is having a natural instinct of how to play it rather than methodically figuring out the pitch and how it correlates onto the piano. [editline]31st October 2016[/editline] Also, my best suggestion for getting good at piano is finding a song you really enjoy, but is a reasonable challenge. I have learned more in the past 2 months doing that than I have with 3 years of classical experience. Before I was forced to play obnoxious songs that my teacher assigned to me, resulting in me not really having any sort of motivation to play. Now, I am picking up songs and working at them for nearly 2 hours a day.

That was lovely. I see you're on a roll with Portal 2; Cara Mia Addio next?

("Music Theory for Dummies" book might be a good start) And, as dimitrik129 said, train your ears by playing sheet music or by using special software. Getting a few lessons from a teacher to get your hand/arm posture correct will be good for you too. Though there are a few hacks to get you started: 1) Usually (but not always!) chord contains notes from the melody. 2) Listen to the bass line. It will help you find a root note of a chord.
m8 I'm holding you to it, get playing and post results
Have you heard any music from Steven Universe? "it's over, isn't it" or "here comes a thought" would both sound good on piano
