Jesus christ
"I've never seen something like this before..."
I have.
the effects would have looked good in 1999
Who buys their stuff?
Is their audience of "watching it for a laugh" large enough to support the budgets, however small they are?
This movie does feel like it should have been released a few years ago

Their audience is entirely composed of the inattentive and poorly communicated, who hear someone at home wants to watch "that Pacific Rim" movie yet, when they get to the rental store, they just remember "it was a movie about an ocean with rim in it."
It explains why all of their movies are so closely named after the ones they're copying, at least. It's "that sounds about right/close enough to what they wanted" commercialized.

Too inattentive and poorly communicated to realize there's no such thing as the Atlantic Rim

they make most of these movies as parodies and a lot of them are actually funny
Considering this is an Asylum movie, the effects are decent.
