"We moved it because we thought there was more innovation that could go in the game," Wilson said this week during the GamesBeat conference in San Francisco. He went on to explain that feedback gathered from the beta factored into EA's decision to push the game to 2015. Wilson said Battlefield Hardline's beta players said things like, "'Yeah, we like this. This whole cops and criminals things is cool, but we think you could be doing things more differently.'" When Battlefield Hardline's delay was officially announced in July, DICE's Karl Magnus Troedsson explained that feedback from the beta pushed the company to "start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better." Both single-player and multiplayer will benefit from the game's delay, Troedsson said previously. For multiplayer, Visceral Games plans to add "some new feature ideas direct from the community that will evolve the cops and criminals fantasy into a truly unique Battlefield multiplayer experience." On the single-player side, Visceral plans to use the extra months of development to spend "more time polishing our core features, as well as adding a few new ones that will support a deeper 'crime revenge' story experience."
Didn't these guys made an early access / beta shit earlier?
This is the reason I didn't pre-order it.. As I said in its announcement post: I am not going to pre-order it, simply because of the quality of BF4. The beta release was better than the initial full release; I've just come back to playing BF4 in the last few weeks, and it is marginally better than it was 12 months ago. Products should be done in full before their full release or people will stop buying them. Hope they sort their shit out.
"more innovation" that fucking shareholder buzzword.
Shareholder bullshit. I'll see what the results are for myself. Before I even think about buying it.
Good that "more innovation" is in open quotes. Someone could start believing it.
"more innovation" that fucking shareholder buzzword.
That or they need a little more time to develop some content for them to cut out to be served as DLC later. ~innovation~
Having played the "beta" I can be safe to say that they could've released this as a DLC. For Battlefield 2. That is quite literally how awful of a concept it is. "Go to X point, stand there, collect money and then return it to Y point! OH, AND BE SURE YOUR UNCOORDINATED TEAM DOESN'T LET THEM ROB YOUR BASE."

More innovative ways to milk the franchise for sure
Awww, but I couldn't wait to go against the evil American Militia Movement, and somehow be able to disarm men armed with assault rifles with a fucking badge.
Yes! Because innovation is just something you can just smear onto your product after the fact! Lemme just grab my 2 liter tub of innovation and give this DVD a good solid layer of all that good stuff. It's not like it's something that's supposed to be at the core of your product, defining it's central concept, right? Fuck off. It's a god damn shooter. You shoot people, they die. Sometimes you shoot people to capture a point. Sometimes you do it from a vehicle. Woop-dee-doo. And you know what? I'm fine with that. Deliver a solid core experience and I'll gladly gobble up some new content for an existing franchise. I'm fine with taking an existing concept and just improving upon it. Just don't try to hide the sequel-itis behind buzzwords. After the shit-fest that was BF3, I held off on buying BF4. When it was released, I figured I'd just wait till it got patched and worked properly. I'm still waiting. So why the hell would I put my trust in this game? Oh right "Innovation".

I said fuck bf4 and played project reality instead.

If its the same "innovation" that made sim city and dungeon keeper mobile what they are today, then no fucking thank you. I'd rather put up with Ubisoft and their Uplay bullshit. That being said, if the game launches in relatively good quality, I'll be impressed.

Battlefield 2 still has more innovation then BF3 and BF4 combined. I swear the maps were bigger in BF2, commander mode actually was something, and squad/teamwork actually mattered. It's like DICE were slowly rebuilding a soulless BF2 with BF4.
I swear the maps were bigger in BF2, commander mode actually was something, and squad/teamwork actually mattered.
It's been a long time since I played [del]Strike at Karkand 2[/del] Battlefield 2, but if memory serves me right commanders were mostly awful idiots who would only ever use commander to pad their own scores and there was no teamwork beyond spawning on a squad leaders to save you time in between your 1 man army charges on CPs. There was the occasional game where what you describe happens, but I would hardly say it was the norm in BF2.

I can't wait to pirate this. [editline]17th September 2014[/editline] Inb4 banned "Dont talk about warez"
Whats up with EA using "Innovation" for nearly every single time they are called out?, its not innovation its a stupid as fuck excuse that doesnt even make sense
When I played that beta, it was so obvious what was content made by the new team wand what was ported from BF4, it was kinda ridiculous. Unprofessional mod-like is what came to mind.

The most normal fanbase of the franchise will not mind.
Was skeptical at first, but this makes me feel much better. I'm a big fan of innovation, guess this will now be a day 1 purchase
"more innovation" that fucking shareholder buzzword.
I find "experience" to be a much more annoying buzzword IMO.
I stopped even considering purchasing any new Battlefield labelled game. It's become what Assassins Creed is today, with one or two new things here but it just feels like your playing the previous game with a different storyline.

BF5 should take place sometime inbetween 4 and 2142, and lead up to the reasons of the Ice Age and New Cold War. Hopefully, this would make them come up with new content, instead of fleshing out the old.

I really hope they do a 2142 remake next. http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/news/view/the-final-stand/
