I think the invention of manspreading is the greatest achievement of feminism in western world. I mean if this is what you get to complain and spend time making a what long week "experiment" about making people taking too much space on public transport a gender issue then you have essentially ran out of real problems and now you are just making them up to sustain your movement. In countries where women are actually discriminated, they don't complain about such minuscule crap, they have real feminist issues to go after.
I remember Lewis Spears (on the same topic) saying something funny about Buzzfeed, something along the lines: "Y'know what I like Buzzfeed, because giving people with special needs the opportunity to get into journalism and write whatever they want is very important"
In countries where women are actually discriminated, they don't complain about such minuscule crap, they have real feminist issues to go after.
women are discrimated against in the US though. not by "manspreading" of course, but sociological problems still exist
women are discrimated against in the US though. not by "manspreading" of course, but sociological problems still exist
Then they ought to focus on those issues instead of this nonsense. [editline]18th December 2016[/editline] Don't get me wrong, I am aware that there are plenty of actual feminists that're fighting these issues and trying to make things better. But the women who makes "manspreading" into an issue are laughable. Silly Sil explained it perfectly.
There are more women who put there shit on the seats of a chair than men who spread their legs on the subway. Manspreading is a dumb complaint
I've heard "bitchbagging" used as the term for that. There's probably a slightly nicer one but yeah Also I'm not saying you can't ever do either, if there's plenty of space go ahead and occupy it. Just be aware enough to notice if someone else needs the space you're occupying. So many of the pictures they use in the video are perfectly fine because they aren't intruding upon other people. really this is just basic courtesy shit tbh.

Just as an example there are countless women's refuges that are in more and more need of help, all over our societies they are pretty much in union about how violence numbers go down but gets more severe and countless other issues. Don't step into the same trap by being so simplistic.
Do other men actually have difficulty closing their legs when sitting down?
Most feminism in first world countries is a joke in comparison to issues in countries that have real, horrible problems. Like Saudi Arabia. These horrible women are just using this bullshit as an excuse. CLOSE YOUR DAMN LEGS, TAN. THERE ISN'T EVEN A FISHERY NEAR BY!
Do other men actually have difficulty closing their legs when sitting down?
I think the idea isn't that you cant do it, but more than it get uncomfortable especially if your on a train or bus for more than 2 seconds.
Do other men actually have difficulty closing their legs when sitting down?
Yes. My hip is a full inch out of alignment. If I sit close legged, I will be in a lot of pain in moments.
Do other men actually have difficulty closing their legs when sitting down?
It's extremely uncomfortable. I do not understand why women do not find sitting spread out more comfortable than closely tight. Unless you wear a skirt, just spread yourselves, gosh. [editline]19th December 2016[/editline]
Yes. My hip is a full inch out of alignment. If I sit close legged, I will be in a lot of pain in moments.
I'd say medical reasons do not apply to the question.
Yeah, it's mainly the hip structure so for most men it's uncomfortable because of how men's hips are.
A lot of those men seemed to be doing it because they have longish legs and they don't fit in the space between the chair in front. I know I have problems with that being about 6'.
A lot of those men seemed to be doing it because they have longish legs and they don't fit in the space between the chair in front. my legs are so long on the bus i ride i actually cannot sit with them together because i can't fit in the seat unless i """manspread"""
Then it might be in a minority. I can sit with my legs together, and even sit comfortably with my legs crossed

I like that at the end of the video they say "girls should be able to splay themselves all the way out, don't feel bad, because once I saw a guy doing it" like if it's such a horrific problem for you when men do it why would you encourage more people to do it?? gender politics need to die
Then it might be in a minority. I can sit with my legs together, and even sit comfortably with my legs crossed
that's great dude but like most guy's hips are not situated in a way where that's comfortable to do for any length of time.
As a 6'6" man I think I can safely say that those subway seats just don't do it for me unless my legs are in the aisle at least a little bit.
this is even dumber than that mansplaining video
that's great dude but like most guy's hips are not situated in a way where that's comfortable to do for any length of time.
How so? How does the structure of the hips make it hard to do comfortably?
If I sit with my legs together for too long while wearing tight pants it crushes my nuts.
How so? How does the structure of the hips make it hard to do comfortably?
Men have more narrow hips. We also have nuts. Those two don't combine well for most men. Also, what's your height?
chairs and seats are always too low for me and as such if my legs are closed together it put a big strain on my knees, i kid you not, only 2 to 5 minutes are enough to make them hurt. so i have to open them up. im not sorry for it.
How so? How does the structure of the hips make it hard to do comfortably?
yes, actually [t]http://www.doereport.com/imagescooked/26017W.jpg[/t] as you can see, the female hip structure is wider as to provide more space for any wandering child to exit from the male hip structure doesnt have to deal with that, as it is male, so it is thinner due to this, females can sit more comfortable with their legs going inward, while males can not this is not helped by the fact that there is a long tube and two very sensitive lil dangly bits between the male hips
i sit cross legged like 100% of the time as a 6' dude never had any issues with it being uncomfortable, your meat kinda just situates itself tbh
Seriously, when your #1 problem in the world is "some people take up more space on the subway" you're not doing too bad.
But it's not the #1 problem, it's just the dumb idiots thinking it is?
my legs are so long on the bus i ride i actually cannot sit with them together because i can't fit in the seat unless i """manspread"""
Yeah this is my main criticism of manspreading. I don't know if its the same for other countries, but the people who design the buses I use in the UK assume you have tiny fucking legs. As a 6'2" person, my legs don't really fit in most of the seats. I can fit in the ones designed for buggies, but I don't fuck with that cause I ain't a asshole, and I fit in some of the seats right at the back because they put a fire door there so there is more leg room that the average seat. Normal seats, however, have so little leg room that I just about fit in them if I spread my legs far apart.
