It says in the video that they are culling the deer, this is something that has to be done when you have to large of a population in which the size is a threat to said population in where they eat everything/generally muck everything up. Its a big problem where I hunt but with pigs.
Another reason to cull population can because of missed quotas, disease, or genetics(I disagree with these unless its some horribly debilitating thing).
Though I have never heard of anyone remotely suggesting that you shoot a deer in the head, something to do with prion diseases and I find it horribly destructive, where a well placed shot to the heart/lungs can instantly kill it from shock.

I actually had a conversation with a friend of mine before I saw this clip. He was saying how the internet has desensitized him from seeing gore to the point that he could even laugh at the way a head explodes. Although I agreed with him I thought that was kind of fucked up that he's like that, then I saw this and I guess I'm not much different.

Its because its not a human target. This doesnt make us feel sick because of our "hunting instincts".
This video does not make me sick in any way, but seeing war videos where actual people are getting blown up and shot makes me feel pretty sick. Also that one video where they stab a helpless man repeatedly to the stomache and to the eyes with a screwdriver and finish him with a hammer.
