Holy fuck that guy on the lathe makes me nervous. Putting your face that close with long hair is a bad idea, even if they're experienced.
I still don't see the point in them smashing the shit that they do at the end.
Most of the time it's soda bottles and clay pots which is a terrible analog to the damage it would actually do, a sword smashing a clay pot isn't going to give you any more of an idea of the damage it would do as slicing a marshmallow would.
I want some bamboo sticks or ballistics gel, none of this brittle breaky stuff. Slicing stuff is what i want to see

Also I'm pretty sure the opening mechanism would cut your fingers off

I agree that something more scientific would be cooler, but they have a decent amount of technical talk in the 'how it's made' portion that I can accept some dumb smashy smashy stuff for the kids at the end.

It's just for fun I think, gives people something to gawk at.
The guy makes these usually for movies, I'm doubting he's doing it for the sake of making an effective weapon. It's more about the craft rather than the application
I wonder if he'd be up for doing the weapon from Krull. Great movie
We should band together in the comments to get him to make the Cypher from the Strider series.
Black guy chopping up the watermelon :v:
Holy shit, it was a long time since they made stuff that actually resembled the source material.
Wish they actually threw it instead of smashing shit with it.
Still no Dark Souls Zweihander
