Well, you see, I let the machine does what it does and that is the magic of it, well at least part of it.
I agree, It does seem a little dumb, but there were many factors in deciding the dumbness.
For instance, I could tweak the weight of the box it pushed, or the pitch of the the ramp, or the weight of the marble, to vary the length in which it lasted. I chose something that SHOULD have lasted a minute, but ended up with much longer to to a slow degradation of the Trolling Record Player Arm; After many runs it just didn't seem to hit the ball efficiently during the down ramp.
Also, these things are supposed to be a LITTLE dumb, gravity porn, eye music, call me a changewright, but I'm a sucker for movement. The motion blur, well I need a new camera and I'm poor. Cut me some slack jack.
Also, keep in mind, The Saga of Sphereland is an ongoing project; This machine in no way represents the entire body of work. An analogy that works well with this project is Web comics or sunday comics. I can say I can offer at least 50 machines a year, equivalent to having comics in a newspaper during the weekend. I think this art is a lot like animation to some degree.
Anyways, thank you for watching!
way cool
I love watching these
I imagine his room must be messy beyond imagination with all the rubes he makes.
