It may not be so with these since you probably can't even read the product's name, but think about it. Every time you go "that stupid ____ commercial", you just recalled the featured product's name. It's in your head. And when you tell others about the commercial, you're inadvertently advertising the product to them.
When you think about it, these commercials are pretty darn successful since they got Arnold Schwarzenegger in them. Years and years later, we're posting them online and actively seeking them out for viewing.
