If effort was put into the dub then they rescript it to match the lip flap as close as they can. If there wasn't much effort...you get the picture. Japanese sentences generally seem to run longer than their English translations.

I feel like Heavy Metal is almost at a disadvantage because Ghost In The Shell at least tries, and even though i like Heavy Metal, it's mostly violence and boobs.
I would want to make a comparision to Persepolis ot The Illusionist, but that's not American. Has there even been a western animated movie aimed for adults that actually tried to be serious or mature?
