MW3 blackout - AKA brogamers and kiddies have finally realized that COD has gone to shit - General

The devs won't give 2 craps about this. All they want is to milk more money out of the players and so far they have done a very good job since millions of idiots have bought the game, regardless of awaring that it's nearly the same game as MW2.

Okay, so they want the CoD community to stop playing MW3. On April 20th aka 4/20. The only thing that's gonna black out is a bunch of players from all that weed.

A day won't do shit. Can CoD players not go longer than a day without playing? Go a whole month blackout.

Funny enough most of their demands aren't present in Black Ops. MW3 was a train wreck but considering all the fun I got out of BO I'll probably support Treyarch again and pick up BO2 this year.

I'd support it if it was actually worthwhile, as in demanding Activision stop milking what used to be a good game franchise into the ground and stop the overpriced crappy DLC milk, but for a few game changes it's not ultimately worth it.

There's already a movement behind not wanting the series "milked" (wrong context but your words); it's not buying the game.

I don't even play CoD but I laughed at "Removal of Deathstreaks". Who the fuck do these guys think they are? They aren't gonna just remove a giant feature like that.

I don't get how this will do anything? The devs don't make money from people playing the game, but buying it. What do they care if people stop playing it for one day. As if they aren't going to buy the next one that comes out anyway I have never played a COD Modern Warfare or Black Ops game. Not really my type of game.

They bought the game. Their gold accounts are still running. They're stopping gameplay for a single day. The Devs aren't even going to fucking notice, let alone care.

I've been doing this blackout since the game was released. These guys are way late.

It was a lot better balanced though. No Stopping Power (best change in series imo), no 3x frags, and the setting was a lot more interesting.

The graphics have a reason to not have changed, because Treyarch was more comfortable with CoD4's version of the engine, and even then I notice a graphical difference. I don't remember much glitching going on aside from the quickscopers.

Killstreaks are a natural evolution of mechanics that go back to CS and DotA, where the winning team gets more rewarded for doing well and the losing team gets punished for doing poorly. Deathstreaks upset this balance by outright rewarding a player for doing poorly, thereby increasing the incentive for bad behaviors. Especially stupid ones like martyrdom only exacerbate the problem by encouraging players to just run around and die for a lucky kill that required absolutely no ability. Now if you want to argue that the killstreaks have gotten a bit ridiculous I would agree, but the concept and game theory of killstreaks in and of themselves work well in the context of the game, as they have in competitive games for decades.
