A Saturday performance of the St. Louis Symphony was disrupted by demonstrators protesting the killing of Michael Brown, the black, unarmed teenager who was shot by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.
"Justice for Mike Brown is justice for us all," protesters sang, before asking the audience, "Which side are you on, friend? Which side are you on?"
god fucking damn every morning i wake up here its something new about the protester's. all they do is cause trouble and bitch and complain, go the fuck home and let the trial pan out, jesus christ. living in st louis county sucks.
Do you know how often on the news they talk about a new shooting that occured over night in north st louis? almost every day. do you know how many white people get gunned down over night in north st louis in a year?
the sheer disrespect that this action shows towards the musicians and the organizers honestly makes me feel better about him being dead

Quoting this shit in case you try to edit or walk it back later.

you can write it on my grave if you want
I don't give a moldy shit about Mike Brown and if you think that your shit is important enough to trample over my evening then fuck you
Cases like this make me hope that if I ever become slightly important that I will end up vaporized silently in an empty field. Martyrdom scares me.

A thug in a St. Louis suburb steals from a convenience store, assaults a cop afterwards, and gets killed for his idiocy by the same cop. That information alone is enough to make any decent, law-abiding human being with common sense feel better about him being dead. Michael Brown was a piece of shit.
Go home you stupid fuckers.

Being a nuisance is not being relevant.

stealing like 8 bucks worth of cigars is a crime worthy of getting fucking shot for, an event that ~4 eyewitnesses describe as an execution
you heard it here first folks

you forgot the part where he assualted a police officer and went for his gun

You must have missed the part where he hit a cop in the face with his fist, which is what actually led to him getting shot. But your sensationalist misrepresentation of the facts is as adorable as it is frustrating. Stealing the cigars was just his first stupid move of the day.

If anyone could prove that then there wouldn't be a controversy. I like the leap here: "This guy stole some cigars, so he clearly intended to kill that cop."

did internet time skip forward a week while i was at work or something because this is literally the first time i've read that this happened.

it's almost like internet justice sensationalism is useless and misleading and poisonous to the actual investigative process
If anyone could prove that then there wouldn't be a controversy. I like the leap here: "This guy stole some cigars, so he clearly intended to kill that cop."
The controversy is that nobody wants to believe what the cop said, and instead like to think that a police officer just randomly decided to harass two innocent kids and then gun them down execution style because they were black.
what the fuck was the point of doing this
there are few better ways to draw completely negative attention to your cause than by doing shit like this

Also from the comments section:
The flash mob happened during intermission, it didn't interupt the performance at all. All those participating were paying customers of the symphony.
obviously since its a comment it might not be true but if it is that's a totally different story

I agree, the assumptions are ridiculous. I personally believe that the whole thing was an accident, as in nobody intended to kill anyone. But before the body was even cold people were already declaring the act a racial killing or writing off the victim as better-off dead. It's a mad situation.

I disagree, it's nice to be able to go out and do a thing without everyone trying to shove their social justice dick in your face

the real controversy behind all this is how horribly the police reacted to the protests. if they just kept quiet and didn't send out armored vehicles and military-ass dudes this would probably be old news by then.

if it was during an intermission, lasted 5 whole minutes (as it did, according to the article), and didn't interrupt the show its not really that big of a deal tbh
If anyone could prove that then there wouldn't be a controversy. I like the leap here: "This guy stole some cigars, so he clearly intended to kill that cop."
the controversy is that nobody in Ferguson wants to believe the truth, and would rather throw rocks at police in "peaceful protests" and loot stores because "MUH POLICE BRUTALITY GIVES ME A REASON TO COMMIT CRIMES AND SHOOT PEOPLE"
what would your thoughts be on gay pride parades?

While I agree that the military surplus police force didn't help to quiet things down, I really doubt that things would have been "old news" as you say. People want drama, and this grey-area case gives ample opportunity for people to take extreme stances.

If you're willing to accept the witness' unchecked testimony as fact, then you must accept the unchecked source that the officer suffered an orbital socket blowout as fact as well. Neither stories have been proven true or false by evidence, so if you support one, then you must support the other right???
Or are you only willing to support evidence that supports your own personal views on the situation?
They din do nuffin

The looting and violence certainly made it safe for the police to just control it like any other protest.

i was mostly following the police's response to the shooting, not the shooting itself because in the grand scheme of everything ferguson related i think it's the least significant.
read up some NPR articles after having that pointed out tho, wasn't aware of the allegation that he was punched until just now, and the general consensus when i was up to date on this a while ago was that mike brown was shot in the back.
what would your thoughts be on gay pride parades?
the context is way different
if a bunch of gay people showed up at a concert and demanded that I 'pick a side' in their own contrived struggle against whatever, that side would probably still be "fuck off"
the act of stealing the limelight for your own bullshit in the middle of a non-political event that people plan and practice for for months is just a shitty thing to do
I disagree, it's nice to be able to go out and do a thing without everyone trying to shove their social justice dick in your face
im so sorry that you live in society and cant escape it when things happen in that society
if you want i can direct you to some nice farmland off the grid in nebraska where you can go and be ignorant and pretend that nothing is happening in the world and divorce yourself from the obligation of having to act and be involved in and know about what is going on in the civilization you are partly responsible for.
Like I get that maybe you don't want the intermission of your symphony disrupted but all the same we don't get to selectively turn off the bad and just enjoy the good.
