basically, the sith are camping the spawnpoint at illum in pvp servers because they are so massively overpowered and exploiting the turrets to get tons of valor points meanwhile the bioware community is talkin about it here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=193471
I'll probably get in trouble for posting an image, so I'll just thumbnail it, I suppose that will do? I'm not sure what is and isn't for image macros. Either way it's completely relevant. [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/spaceicehitsTORtanic.jpg[/t]
sorry bioware you can't keep singleplayer mechanics in an mmo you bunch of incompetent shitheads. The game in its current state sucks shit through a crazy straw.
yeah pvp has majorly pissed me off in this game, it was bad enough doing some pvp as lower level and having the enemy team full of champions.
Am I the only one who likes this game? I haven't played PvP yet, but the story is interesting, gameplay is fun, its star wars... I really like it.
Am I the only one who likes this game? I haven't played PvP yet, but the story is interesting, gameplay is fun, its star wars... I really like it.
The way how the quest (typical Bioware style) works is awesome and I'm playing only for that.
Thats just... Ridiculous. I expected this game to be more balanced than this. Now i can understand why a guy in my school regrets buying it.
it's an exploit, everything will be rolled back
this accurately depicts what bioware community forum elite autists argue about claiming that SWTOR is the best glitch free mmo ever.
Turrets do NOT give tons of valor points. People are NOT going 40 to 100 valor in an hour These are Rumors. Valor also has diminishing returns on players On the plus side though, Ilum now has players actually on it, and actually fighting (Which is a fucking BLAST on my server since it's been pretty balanced) and there are finally Brackets keeping level 50's separate from 49 and under in Warzones All in all, the patch is a step forward. If you think about it all this whining is bullshit anyway. How many people were on Ilum before? 20 at any given time on peak hours? How many of those 20 were fighting? None. They were in mutual agreement to take a point from one another until their daily and weekly was completed. People moaned from time to time, but now that there is some fighting, and 100+ players on Ilum, they're crying louder than a daycare of children who all have ADHD. Yeah, it sucks if you're getting camped and can't leave. But do you honestly think that it's going to be that way longer than 24 hours? Do something else, PvP on an Alt now that it's physically possible to contribute without getting steamrolled by the level 50 in Battlemaster gear. We got a great game, with 8 different well written storylines each lasting 200 hours with every class being pretty balanced in one on one fights, and now all you hear is BIOWARE IS SHIT THIS IS SHIT IM UNSUBBING BOO HOO because of nothing more than a single oversight on Ilum. I'm sure their precious WoW never had an oversight like that! Oh wait, it did, several times
Servers need to be rolled back and people exploiting it need temporary bans. Pvp on TOR right now is such a pile of trash, needs a complete redesign.

uh suddenly everyone hates bioware over something that'll be sorted out within the next few days. apparently, TOR was a waste of money. thank god FP was here to point out how awful it is, I miss Galaxies. Oh wait, no I don't. Because Galaxies had worse camping than TOR does
Is that Zach Anner?
what
Turrets do NOT give tons of valor points. People are NOT going 40 to 100 valor in an hour These are Rumors. Valor also has diminishing returns on players
How does lying through your teeth feel?
Am I the only one who likes this game? I haven't played PvP yet, but the story is interesting, gameplay is fun, its star wars... Being a SWG player for years, I've gotten used to huge ass open worlds where you spend hours just exploring shit and visiting player cities. But in SWTOR, sure, it's open, but not by you're still restricted by a lot. It feels like a watered down singleplayer game. But I still have hopes it will improve with time
It'll be restructured and rebalanced eventually. Wow was a piece of shit too at launch... and way into 2006.
It'll be restructured and rebalanced eventually. Wow was a piece of shit too at launch... and way into 2006.
And people stuck with it, but fanbases aren't as loyal... especially when better games are already around.
The game hasn't even been out for a month, give it time.
How does lying through your teeth feel?
I think maybe you should play it for yourself instead of take the word of people who are just raging
And people stuck with it, but fanbases aren't as loyal... especially when better games are already around.
And bioware haven't got a reputation of releasing working games... Neither one of patching them up after release. Modders always have to do that for them. Just like with Black Isle and Interplay games of auld. Still. I'll play along for now.
I wish there was something better than WoW. I can't wait until GW2.
GW2 will be the pvp mmo topdog tbh it's quite clear i mean they're already running tournaments in beta.
The game hasn't even been out for a month, give it time.
2 days short of a month is almost a month. 28 days is a pretty long time.
"Hello everyone; I wanted to update you on the issues we’ve been seeing today on the live servers, specifically within the Open World PvP area on Ilum. We’re aware that on some servers, either Republic or Empire groups have been capturing the Ilum control points, entering the enemy’s base and ‘camping’ the medcenters, preventing the opposite faction from leaving their base to recapture control points. This is not a fair or balanced gameplay experience and can also severely affect client performance, so we’re taking steps to address this. Our intended design for Ilum Open World PvP is that players are instantly killed when entering the enemy’s base safe area, just like in Warzones, and that the defending faction can take taxis to other points within the zone. In Game Update 1.1, this is not working as intended. We have found the issue preventing this from happening under server load and will be publishing an Emergency Patch to address the issue. We’re aiming to have this patch published early tomorrow morning (January 19th, 5 AM US CST). In addition to these changes, we’ll be reducing the population cap on Ilum. This should help increase performance by requiring your client to render fewer characters on-screen at once. Regarding Valor gains, with the 1.1 update, players now receive a base reward of 20 Valor per unique enemy player defeated in a short time, and this base reward is modified by the number of objectives that the player’s faction owns. The gains are rate limited per player killed, encouraging players to attack unique players, not to pursue vendettas. The Valor gains players can see over time will vary greatly depending on the activity level in the zone. This is expected. To dispel a couple of rumors that have been seen today – there is no Valor gain from destroying turrets within enemy bases, and none from killing NPCs. We encourage players to avoid Ilum until our patch is deployed. As a temporary measure we will be disabling taxi services which would normally take players into the Open World PvP area. However, players will still be able to taxi out of the area. We will continue to monitor Ilum across all servers and will make further changes to gameplay if required. We welcome your feedback here on the Forums, but please ensure your feedback is constructive and specific. Feedback based on rumor does not help us isolate potential issues."
and they arn't rolling back valor
Still the most polished MMO I've played for the first month after launch. Having lot's of fun with it.
and they arn't rolling back valor
Why would they need too?
Why would they need too?
because the exploit they used gave them a shitton of it
