So prices are arbitrarily high because it's privatized and unregulated...its just like University fees.
People definitely have options for who to buy health products from however since inflation is high people don't save an adequate amount of money to cover large costs and have to rely on insurance which limits who people can buy products from. In p much all cultures throughout history its been common for people bury a bit of whatever is valuable under a tree just in case.
who is hank?
who is hank?
His brother. They both run the VlogBrothers channel and make it kind of a back and forth type of video format.
My poli sci professor mentioned that because the US leads in drug research and development, the companies expect to make a bit of profit due to the costs of the research, the costs due to testing, and making sure it's safe enough for the FDA, while Canada can get the formula without doing the rigamarole and offer it at a cheaper price.
So what he's basically saying is that national health care is more or less a big platform of getting your "product" (Whatever it is, a treatment, pill or a prosthetic) to a big market and the cheapest one gets the contract, therefore dropping the prices of everything across the board. In theory it can be as simple as government just saying "whoever makes the cheapest X will get to make it for the entire country" and then no one has any choice but to try and get the contract, whatever it takes?
