I generally don't like LTT, but this was pretty interesting
[sp]god damn this style of advertising pisses me off, and I can't even block it.[/sp]
That's what pisses me off the most - I pay $10 for YouTube Red to not see ads, so I don't want to see any ads.
That's what pisses me off the most - I pay $10 for YouTube Red to not see ads, so I don't want to see any ads.
I'd be even worse if you used DSC too because it'd be an ad for something you ALREADY use double annoyance
That's what pisses me off the most - I pay $10 for YouTube Red to not see ads, so I don't want to see any ads.
idk. It's at the ass end of the video. You can tell when it's coming. Music stops, video fades out. I just click off it and ignore it. It's better than having it in the middle of the video. I'm fine with it.
I'd much rather have in-video ads at the start/end, and personally I much prefer ads to be in the style of the rest of the video. I really don't mind them.
[sp]god damn this style of advertising pisses me off, and I can't even block it.[/sp]
It's why it has great ROI for LTT or anyone. Sponsored or in video advertising can bring in big money. Because Linus needs to raise more money to spend it on stuff they don't need or know how to use so they can then reduce their tax bill. Oh wait, too much spending, better raise more money, aww fuck.
Well yeah, but I'd rather it not be a trend in the first place. YouTube already has its own ad platform.
I really don't know if you can call it an ad platform anymore
Youtube ad revenue has been awful for the past few years now so its not surprising that creators are opting to doing this and I really don't mind. It's at the end or a very quick blurb at the beginning of a video and that is it.
That's what pisses me off the most - I pay $10 for YouTube Red to not see ads, so I don't want to see any ads.
what's worse, he puts the same ass ads on twitter, and i think you can't do that without disclosing with twitter themselves
With the ad stuff being as it is on YouTube I'm not sure I can blame him for being more aggressive with ads. You can get a subscription for 3.99/month to get all of Linus's videos without ads (and early).
Well yeah, but I'd rather it not be a trend in the first place. YouTube already has its own ad platform.
I hope you realize that YouTube ads pay virtually nothing. He likely makes a vast majority of his revenue from the sponsored in-video ads. At least, that's what I gather from what CGP Grey has said on his podcast.
Well yeah, but I'd rather it not be a trend in the first place. YouTube already has its own ad platform.
Said ad platform is mostly blocked, so the only other option for funding for YouTubers is either Patreon or in-video ads. And for advertisers, in-video ads and promotions are their only options left.
Was hoping to see an interesting conversation about quantum computers , but nope lol ads

I have a setup where I watch stuff on my TV from my couch and then I have to get up, walk to my PC and skip the video ahead minute or two so I don't have to hear "First meal FOR FREE with FREE shipping" for the 56th that day. ARRRGH!
is there a different website than YouTube that is used by others? i've been unsubscribing from channels the instant they pull out the shitty advertising that ruins videos, and as a result i am only subscribed to a few channels. it takes days for anything new to pop up in "Subscriptions" because of how thin the list is youtube is like 70% advertising and 30% content so i'm looking for an alternative?
I don't know why people complain about the advertisement. You can literally just skip it, lmao. Usually it's towards the end of the video too, so just stop watching it at that point?
Well yeah, but I'd rather it not be a trend in the first place. YouTube already has its own ad platform.
That most people block.
Why complain about ads when you can just close your eyes lol
Sick zinger, but seriously, what is this argument? Linus literally didn't advertise shit (other than the case) until the end of the video. He talked about quantum computers through and through, and yet people still complain "wanted to watch a vid about quantum computers, but ERRG advertising!!!", which makes me think people didn't even watch the video. He always advertises at the end, so just dip out when it gets to it.

I pay for Youtube Red as well, but I really don't think it's as big of a deal as people are making it out to be, since I mostly paid for Red to get rid of annoying 30-second/15-second unskippable ads on mobile. I can't see why you can't just click on the next video of your playlist, unless you're binging on LTT.

None of the bigger channels or quality of content on YouTube would actually exist if it was truly free. I have no issues with in-video or in-podcast ads. I listen to them every single day when I listen to NPR One or the endless podcasts I listen to at work. Frankly, most of the time the in-video/audio ads are better than the youtube ad system, especially if the host's voice is soothing like 99% Invisible's host. I also have no issues supporting creators using Patreon as I've done with a few people like In A Nutshell.

Did you morons derail this thread over ads at the end of a linus video that you didn't have to watch next post about it gets fucked.
Man, I knew it was difficult to get a quantum processor to its required state, but I didn't think they needed a room the size of a walk-in freezer for a chip that's only as big as my thumb nail.
telling us what a cubit is would have helped
