• The mutha f***kin abandoned time warp hospital! (in new jersey)

One of my favorite locations yet! Half of this hospital closed in the 70s, the rest only closed last year. Some wings are super decayed, others look like it was active last week. So when you switch floors, it is like going through a time warp. Everything from the hospital was left behind! So bizarre! It was originally a Polio quarantine and other infectious diseases facility for children, a psychiatric hospital/asylum, then a cancer research center, school/orphanage for beaten and neglected children, as well as other various functions through its series of owners over the years. History in the video.
Awesome video.
Jesus, aren't you ever tempted to take stuff with you? I realize why it'd be a bad idea, but... so much awesome stuff.

"Take only photographs, leave only footprints".
On a sidenote, the external of that building makes it look creepy as fuck.
Really awesome, and that must be creepy as hell.
iv just sent an e-mail with these videos to the bbc,i think this would make a great late night show!
I was expecting in an abandoned hospital :(
"Pull for cookies" :v:

There's a reason we don't name drop the places we go to, as well; it prevents vandals from damaging a pristine location and it leaves the police clueless as to how we got in. [editline]22nd May 2012[/editline] I use "we" as in urban explorers in general.
iv just sent an e-mail with these videos to the bbc,i think this would make a great late night show!
And now, thanks to you, someone at BBC could have contacted the Essex County authorities who will now have guards outside the building to prevent anyone else from going in.
And now, thanks to you, someone at BBC could have contacted the Essex County authorities who will now have guards outside the building to prevent anyone else from going in.
BBC is in the UK and that essex was in US.These guys have already been on tv before,im sorry if i offended i just think there work is fantastic. as iv worked in media for the last 12 years, they would not be in trouble for this as the videos are giving a public service so other people dont do them. things that are done in jackass, balls of steel.etc are also completely illegal but they've never been in trouble as it is in public intrest.
The creator of the video is fooling us. It's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. gameplay, not Urban Exploration.
It is a fine line, one that BBC could probably care less about. Trespassing is illegal, but so is making a U-turn on some streets. If I had a video of us actually breaking in or taking stuff, then it would be of more concern to them. Like Yadda said, "trying to set the precedence for other explorers." Showing that you can have a good time in these places without destroying them. With that said, thank you matty928. I don't even know who posted me on reddit, but whoever did got us the interview on the news last week. So I guess if you share these videos anywhere, do it on reddit! In the coming months we will shoot a location in a different way, made to meet television standards, edited in the right way to submit as a pilot. I'm waiting for this video to send out and shop around.
I've been to the Essex County Overbrook Hosptial (In fact I was there last week), Skillman, Marlboro, and the Essex County Penitentary. Do you have the address for this place perhaps? I feel like going today.
I do in fact have the address.
things that are done in jackass, balls of steel.etc are also completely illegal but they've never been in trouble as it is in public intrest.
always wondered why the cops never went after brandon dicamillo for shitting on the window of a breakfast place on a major street in broad daylight
Or when they light the rental car on fire in cky2k.
I wish I could get into exploring abandoned buildings, but I don't know of any decent ones nearby.
What's up with the mask?
I've driven past this building a couple of times before.
What's up with the mask?
It stops bird and rat shit, lead paint, asbestos, mold, and other crap from getting in my lungs.
It stops bird and rat shit, lead paint, asbestos, mold, and other crap from getting in my lungs.
With the added bonus of making you harder to identify! :v: Also OP how did you get into UrbEx as you're the youtuber who made that video, like how do you find the places you explore?
Aperture Science: Medical Division.
Try not to bring attention to a pastime that's illegal enough as it is. There's a reason we don't name drop the places we go to, as well; it prevents vandals from damaging a pristine location and it leaves the police clueless as to how we got in. [editline]22nd May 2012[/editline] I use "we" as in urban explorers in general.
It is illegal under terms of endangerment, trespassing, among other things. In the case of having a show dedicated to the exploration of abandoned places, it would do two things, publicize and popularize the act. It's not a question of whether it would become popular on television, as the history and decay of these places are fascinating on their own, but whether it would paint a good light on trespassing or paint it a darker shade. Kids and careless explorers have died exploring structural hazards like these, if there is more attention brought by the public eye; this could make exploring a lot harder for experienced and knowledgeable explorers. Not only this but if more awareness is brought up, some caretakers of these buildings will fight hard to ensure that they are properly locked, impenetrable, and more patrolled (this has a lot to do with state hospitals that once housed a dark chapter in medical history, obviously). This could also complicate things for UC, who, with gained status, may be denied from entering other locations under new guidelines and policy. On the other hand this could also paint a good light on urban explorers, assimilate them into popular culture, and change the face of trespassing laws in the eyes of authority. And as far as namedropping goes, this doesn't necessarily have to be the case. Famed explorers like Motts use pseudonyms often to suppress media attention, and appeal to explorers who like to do research. It's a tough bargain, I'd like to see something like this gain MSM attention, but I can't guarantee it would do it any good. [editline]value[/editline] Just to clarify I didn't quote you to debate, I just wanted to project my opinion on the matter.
So I ended up going today, it's fucking awesome. Took nothing, left only footprints. Great spot. The facility isn't that abandoned though. The buildings in the back are still fully operational. OP was a tad misleading, no offense.
Awesome and interesting video as always, man going to that place in the middle of the night would be spooky. Also, how did you fix the auto-focus sound? By switching to manual?
Great video! It's always awesome to watch them in fullscreen and in highest quality. I see you've dropped the voice changing and stop hiding your friend from the shots. This is quite a change of pace from being absolutely unknown to being somewhat knowable. I like the super deep voice to a point but this change allows you to have a bit more freedom. Just be sure to stay in "character" by remaining unknown.
