If you're insinuating that Mega64 is somehow "underground" or unknown, you have something coming to you.

I feel like this post hints that you're a newer fan than anyone here.
This is so true that it hurts. Literally. I'm beating myself over the head hoping that at some point i'll lay a blow to knock me out cold so i can go back about 10 years when video games were drastically different.
love mega64
hate game publishing companies and console DRM bullshit
Maybe its because I've been watching them for about 7 years... Oh lawd.
This video is accurate enough to be scary.
Also, I'm happy that i now have enough money to buy Assassin's Creed on Good Old Games without DRM.
It's a sad day as a gamer when you aren't looking forward to gaming rumours.

Well at least you can take some solace in knowing that pre-generation console rumors usually mean fucking nothing.
Remember the Game Boy Evolution? It was supposedly going to exceed Dreamcast graphics, run on optical discs (and possibly GameCube games!), have a ton of internal memory, utilize Bluetooth wireless capabilities, and possibly connect to the Nintendo Revolution to act as a secondary screen. It was supposed to come out in 2006 as Nintendo's 'third pillar' platform, alongside the DS and Revolution. In the end, the entire console turned out to be thin air, comprised entirely of rumors. Last gen's predictions sure were optimistic, I'll give them that. :v:
I also remember when the PS3 supposedly wasn't going to be able to play used games too. I mean, I'm not saying that the current rumors aren't true; I'm just saying that you shouldn't let them get you down or get you too excited. They're often completely fabricated. Gaming journalism sites and mags only give them attention just in case some of them turn out to be true, so that they can refer back to their old articles and go "HAHA! WE TOLD YOU SO! WE WERE THE FIRST TO SAY IT!!!"
Maybe its because I've been watching them for about 7 years... Oh lawd.
So apparently what constitutes a series being underground is having a fan that's been watching them for a few years. Wat.

I think it's really just a sign of the times. Software piracy's a huge scare now, and given the ridiculous measures some companies have taken with DRM in the past few years, rumors about the next generation of hardware being locked up in heavy chains are only logical conclusions based on the current direction and focus.
Last generation, 3D graphics and HD displays were still new and had a lot of room to improve; that's why rumors from that era were chock full of optimism about the next gen looking like real life. We've sort of hit a point of stagnation as far as game graphics are concerned, so it's no longer the media focus.

out
I know it won't happen, but I want Sega to come out of nowhere and be like fuck this bullshit time for Dreamcast 2.
The glorious PC master race will prevail!
I believe the next gen consoles will be considered the worst ones if they do not allow backwards compatibility or allow players to buy used games

Mega 64 isn't "underground" (hell, they even made a cameo in Scribblenauts which was moderately popular at the time) but you're spot on about Facepunch being tainted.
Do you guys think this will lead to another video game crash?
Do you guys think this will lead to another video game crash?
Yes
I only just realised the attention paid to detail! They keep swapping out a Pentium 4 PC for 1999 and an N64 to a newer PC and an Xbox for 2012.
Mega64 is awesome

The gaming market is going to be fine but "core games" will probably become extremely rare.
