U.S. President Donald Trump told his Philippine counterpart that Washington has sent two nuclear submarines to waters off the Korean peninsula, the New York Times said, comments likely to raise questions about his handling of sensitive information. Trump has said "a major, major conflict" with North Korea is possible because of its nuclear and missile programs and that all options are on the table but that he wants to resolve the crisis diplomatically. North Korea has vowed to develop a missile mounted with a nuclear warhead that can strike the mainland United States, saying the program is necessary to counter U.S. aggression.Z [...] "We have two submarines — the best in the world. We have two nuclear submarines, not that we want to use them at all," the newspaper quoted Trump as telling Duterte, based on the transcript. Loose lips sink ships. Why can't you keep your gob shut for once?

Are you goddamn serious? Its your own goddamn submarine position, why do you leak it?
Are you goddamn serious? Its your own goddamn submarine position, why do you leak it?
So he can prove how much he knows and feel important.
Oh shit, the Koreans weren't aiming at Japan all this time! Seriously, if Trump keeps this up, no nation will exchange a word with the US.
And now everyone knows...
Why would you tell anyone that, let alone that maniac :why: Trump Cards are supposed to be hidden, but he's giving it a whole new meaning.
Seriously, if Trump keeps this up, no nation will exchange a word with the US.
Not even the US itself at this rate.
Trump has said "a major, major conflict" with North Korea is possible because of its nuclear and missile programs
No, it's possible because you're an imbecile who has zero understanding about the ramifications of using nuclear weapons despite your love of using them.
Here we fucking go!
Well that's a bit concerning. If he can play Trump into leaking info this easily in the future and wants to buddy up with China (he's been a bit all bark no bite with China, considering that they could blow the Philippines off the face of the map), it could give advantage to China in terms of naval positioning and information if relations ever go south again. Also not just Duterte, but any world leader could probably do this.
This information was taken from a phone call transcript, it's not like Trump tweeted it like some of you are suggesting. I don't totally understand what's wrong with Trump telling an ally that two very large/dangerous submarines were going to be passing by their lands? I'm sure he told China and SK too...

This dick waving isn't helping anyone at all.

They represent a tactical nuclear strike capability that can persist even if nuclear war flattens the continental US and destroys land-based military communication. Trump revealing their presence and explaining where they are is both tactically foolish and diplomatically aggressive. Dick-waving with nuke subs is not behaviour becoming the US President; it's more like what the Kim regime would do. Trump has a child's capacity to understand the intricate and delicate interplay of international diplomacy. At this rate he's going to provoke North Korea into doing something, and Koreans (both sides of the DMZ) and Japanese are going to suffer when that happens.

I'm sure he told China and SK too...
1) This leak was not provoked -- Trump offered it willingly to the leader of a foreign nation, despite the fact that it's extremely sensitive information that endangers both national and global security. He did the exact same thing with Russia. It's a big deal. Our president does not seem to be capable of understanding or responsibly handling the sensitive information his position requires him to be exposed to. This isn't information you share with your closest allies, unless necessary, and he's spilling our national secrets to both openly hostile foreign governments and those which have ties to hostile foreign governments. That's concerning, to say the least. 2) The Philippines are pretty rapidly transitioning to a Chinese ally, not a US ally. While we have historically had a very strong relationship with them, they have been distancing themselves from the US in favor of China under the leadership of Duterte. Given that our relations with China are icy, at best, revealing classified information relating to the positioning of our most dangerous naval assets is incredibly foolish. That is to say nothing of the alliance between China and North Korea. If Duterte leaks the info to China, China leaks it to North Korea, and suddenly the very threat those subs are intended to counter becomes aware of their existence and approximate location. Advantage lost. 3) Trump did not tell Duterte that our nuclear submarines would be "passing by their land," he told them that we had nuclear submarines in North Korean waters. That is a significant difference. Don't misrepresent that nature of the conversation to better fit your personal agenda.
Jesus, Imagine being part of a Nuclear sub's crew: with all the responsibility that entails, and all of the danger involved if your position were to be discovered... And then Donny Dumb Dumb just blabs your location out so he can feel like a big man on the phone.
Is there a way the US armed forces can just, stop telling Trump what they're doing? Behaviour like this looks a hell of a lot like a threat to operational security that they'd want to avoid.

jesus fucking christ. my dad was a nuke on subs, jesus fucking christ NO this is not something you do EVER. subs are supposed to be fucking secret. i live near what's been dubbed "the submarine capital of the world" and he's putting our servicemen at risk for no fucking reason What the absolute fuck.

What type of 99-D chess are you playing that thinks telling another sovereign nation, regardless of allegiance, the location of your offland nuclear arsenal and systems is a good fucking idea? Did the definition of "trump" card escape your vocabulary or are you really that daft? To people who support this orangutan for his 56-D chess playing skills, this is NOT a move to be clapping for. [editline]24th May 2017[/editline]
Actually, pretty sure everyone will want to speak to Trump on the off chance he tells them about something incredibly comfidential.
Great, this fucking buffoon is like that one high school kid that peaked senior year and always wants to relive it until he's 80. "Look at me guys, I'm still important/popular!" Seeking affirmation while holding the highest office in the world's most powerful nation is fucking pathetic and tells of your country's judgment.

The entire point of the submarine service is that no one knows where the fuck they are. They operate based on stealth and surprise, and now the world knows that there are two in North Korean waters. fan fucking tastic.
This is why we don't just "give him a chance"
Okay first off, how do we know these are in North Korean waters? It says 'Korean' Waters so I assumed it was in South Korea's and I can't actually find the part where it says it's in NK, am I blind? Secondly, did we know about these submarines being assigned to Korea before Trump spilled the beans? I figured ship locations are usually readily known available information since I see them in the news a lot but these are submarines so I'm not sure.
"I need to show off to this guy that hates America, oh I know I'll tell him where we hide our nuclear submarines" :goodjob:
I figured ship locations are usually readily known available information since I see them in the news a lot but these are submarines so I'm not sure.
Submarine locations are not known, that's the whole point. You're not supposed to know. My dad served on subs for many years, he has a certificate saying he crossed the equator - but it has [classified] at what Longitude since that would give away where he was. It's not just shit you tell people.
This is why we don't just "give him a chance"
Not that anyone who has opposed him this entire time should actually be surprised. At best most of us were simply hoping we were wrong about how shit he was going to be. And as MrRalgoMan has shown, his supporters are still completely oblivious to the problems.
Okay first off, how do we know these are in North Korean waters? And the difference between N. Korean and S. Korean waters is a rather moot point in this context.

I figured that maybe we would at least know where they're generally stationed (not their exact coordinates of course, though) but makes sense that they'd be well hidden. Or well, used to be well hidden (thanks Trump).
