This miniseries is an absolute triumph if you haven't watched it, despite some slightly dated CGI for certain scenes by today's standards it still holds up incredibly well and is gripping from beginning to end.
The Pacific is equally as good as well, I highly recommend both.
The pacific didn't have the same charm that this one had in my opinion. However its still amazing and still equally worth the watch.

The Pacific spends way, way too long away from the frontlines, in my opinion. And while BoB focuses on it's entire cast equally, The Pacific gives it's "main" character too much screentime. It's an interesting angle, sure, but for something that's closer to BoB I'd recommend Our World War (WWI) or Generation Kill (Iraq)
Band of Brothers is a god damn masterpiece, I've seen the whole series probably dozens of times at this point and it still captivates me. There are very few other pieces of media that really capture what it was like on the front lines and how glad we should be we didn't have to do it. The soundtrack is also one of the main reasons I got into orchestral music.

The setting of The Pacific doesn't lend itself to telling the same type of story of a group of people sticking together through a long campaign. It involves a lot of island hopping and landings, with the guys in the squads etc. getting split up all the time. However, I think The Pacific is well worth a watch. It does an incredible job of just showing how messed up and gruesome war can be, even better than BoB I think.
This scene is a good example of that.

Still gives me the chills :(
I've had the pacific sitting on my hdd for a while now, not gotten round to watching it. I watched band of brothers quite a while ago and I agree with everything said above, something about it really captivated me. The war scenes are really brutal, the sounds are amazing and the story is top notch with good pacing.

I was the same until like last year, I really recommend giving it a watch, it's really good. It's kinda hard to compare The Pacific to BoB because pacific theatre doesn't offer as good of a bundled up group of characters as has already been said in the thread, but it's really good series in other ways.
It did get better about that later on, with Sledge, Snafu, Burgin and Hoosier
Band of Brothers is hands down my favorite show of all time, there's nothing I do not love about it.
But I gotta put it out there, read Parachute Infantry by David Kenyon Webster which is one of the main books the series borrowed from. He had a really unique 'no bullshit' writing style and was a fascinating person from reading his accounts and how his mind worked. Simply put the series simply does not do him justice. I wont go into too much detail because it's been a while wince i read it. But the biggest fault with the series is that Webster did not go on the Last Patrol, and the series portrayal of him going out of his way to be put on that Patrol does him a disseervice. He was not a coward, but he had no desire to be a hero or a leader either. He would do what was asked of him, but nothing more, even though he wrestled with his conscience over that decision because part of him really did want to go on the patrol for the sake of his friends.
Anyway, I cant do the man justice either so please go read the book.
Band of Brothers is fantastic. If you remember how good Saving Private Ryan was, Tom Hanks directed on BoB and Steven Speilberg was a producer
I'd heavily recommend Generation Kill if you're a fan of Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Goes a bit more into the confusion that is modern war than the other two did, and has a fantastic portrayal of these people.
Can we please have a BOB version of the germans or Japanese
Or the Brits

Not sure if there's anything close for the Germans but Letters from Iwo Jima is the closest I've seen to anything for a BoB persepective of the Japanese side of the war, which is also an excellent film if you haven't seen it.
I'm going to be bold and actually talk about the video. I can't believe those date inaccuracies, how embarrassing.

Eh iunno that one's honestly nothing like BoB besides that the fact that it's a miniseries and it's about WW2
Just commenting in general on Generation Kill since a few people mentioned it. It's a really different kind of war and the show did a great job of showing how the average soldier didn't give a shit about the politics. Showed how their day to day thoughts were on simple little bullshit things like incompetent officers.

Nothing like BoB? It's a miniseries about a bunch of people and their experiences that span from them first getting involved with the war (except Wilhelm), to the end (Is that not what BoB is about?) In addition it focuses on civilian life during the war and people in non-combat roles, which BoB didn't do but the Pacific did (to an extent).
It seems that the main criticism this got was germans being upset about how it portrayed german soldiers. Doesn't really take away from it's entertainment value, except for germans I guess, apparently.
I thought it was a great show.

It's a movie, but the 1993 film Stalingrad is a good war movie from the POV of the Germans. It also only handles Stalingrad, but if you like war movies I'd check it out.
As far as the most brutal war films I'd say watch The Thin Red Line (although the editing in it could've been a bit better) and Come and See.
If you want a film from the axis perspective you can't not mention Cross of Iron.

I didn't mean that it wasn't good or anything just that it wasn't really like BoB
