It's removed right now reason: They found a typo or some crap like that in the video so they fixed it and are uploading a fixed version, should be up soon I'll keep this updated.
Holy shit finally.
Load faster, you dick.
It was alright. Alright at most in my opinion.. I just can't grasp the idea of having a half-life based movie thing. Maybe its just me, but I didn't really enjoy it as much as others do.
Only took them two years! Expect part 3 early 2013. (although it probably takes a long ass time to make these)
Very awesome, although I wish they explained why the girl and guy magically understood each other despite the language barrier.

I don't think they're making another one.

They might, you never know since they don't have a twitter or anything like that.

Oh my god that was amazing. It got that City 17 look perfectly with the locations they filmed. And the CGI was really good for a low budget.
Loved it.
Oh wow I watched it just in time then.
Though while it did look pretty nice visually, the story and actors were just kind of "meh"

They were good enough considering it's a youtube movie.
fucking missed it
It looks so pretty...

In the meantime, how long is a Chinese name.
I'll keep this thread updated when it comes back up.
There are some parts that look exactly like places in the game, I couldn't tell if that was CGI or real life, or both.
It was okay.
The pacing was awful. It could have used a lot more time in the editing room to get the flow running nicely. The quick relationship (hookup?) between the American dude and the Russian chick was so sudden, so brief that there was no time for me to emotionally invest in the situation, therefore it was worthless. The cuts, the timing of events, it's all just off.
The acting wasn't awful. I see it as more of a case of a director not directing enough. If he'd said 'stand here instead of there' or 'do this with your hands instead of that' or 'say the line with THIS tone instead of that tone' then it would have turned out much better.
Special effects varied in quality. The gunship scenes were brilliantly done, whereas the Zombie scenes were just awful. Would have worked much better if actors had played the zombies instead of having them composited in post production.
Sound was alright although it would have been nice to see some more original sound effects. The default HL2 sounds work well in a video game environment but not all of them transfer over into real life situations, where we expect a greater variety in the tone (etc) of the sound. Think about the Striders - they're semi-organic creatures. They'd make more than three noises and each of those noises would be at slightly different pitches each time they made them.
Ingame, sound isn't as important. Maybe because we're focussing more on reaching an objective than we are about sitting back and being entertained. Maybe because we know it's virtual, whereas film attempts to convince us that it's real life.
The story was boring. Maybe this was due to the lack of dramatic pacing. Regardless of pacing, all we really watched was some people try to get out the city before the Citadel explodes, which is exactly what Episode 1 was about. It would have been nice if they'd introduced some new environments or monsters or themes or Combine technology, but all we really have is a story set in a world we already know, showing us the parts of that world we've already seen.
It was a great attempt and a brilliant film, but it's got issues.
Really, everything EXCEPT the special effects was gratingly bad. They had to actually tell the audience when there were transitions, they jumped around to avoid having to have a consistent narrative of anykind.
This entire video looks like a special effects showcase. Nothing more.

I mean I like how the relationship went from completely platonic to romantic to dead in under 30 seconds

& lmao at the russian girl shouting "no" when he dies
Why don't the resistance wear metal anti-headcrab hats?

Uh...
A non linear story about the connection that grows between two people during the battle of city 17. Made in the same guerrilla style as the first, on budget of $250, previously owned/donated software, and time. Mostly filmed before the release of the original. Worked on 'Valve-time' on this as life has kept us busy but wanted to finish it off. Annotations on for hearing impaired.

Uh...
Ignore the "having to tell" bit then. But I don't care if they say it's non linear, if they were trying to make it non linear they shouldn't have given it a linear structure, that's just a cop-out.

uh
It was okay at best
story was kinda lacking seeing as how the two went from
"lol who are you?"
to
"omg i wub u lets sex b4 we die"
to
"NUUUU HES DEAD *sob sob*"
i find myself really wanting to like this
but the guy and girl thing just was weird.
and it made me wonder what exactly happens when a headcrab jumps on someones head. doesn't it's underbelly mouth thing attach right then? would she have been able to shoot it after struggling around for awhile first? And then she didn't even have any marks on her afterwards.
the special effects really jump around between good and bad
like, when they're running and the metrocop resistance guy has the sniper rifle slinged on his back, you can tell it was just poorly pasted in and motion tracked.
Since I've yet to review it or anything about that, according to the description they were VERY busy with life and such but they really wanted to finish the video. So my guess is they half ass it because they felt guilty they left the community at a cliff hanger and they decided to try to finish it in under 15 minutes (since either they're still limited or just didn't record much). I could be completely wrong but that's just my guess.
I thought headcrabs took like seconds to kill someone when they latch on, and how did she get it off without any markings or damage to her head?
Remember this scene from HL1?

It looks like it just kills you on contact.
Did anyone else notice Gman?
