The Knock.A short film created by us. I know facepunch don't like films if there are no tits in it but anyway. We spent 3 days on it and this is our 1st (hopefully) well made video. So facepunch please be a judge...Color,sound...and etc. Oh and btw we bought and new mic (zoom H1) so no more iphone headset sound. =) And YES WE ARE PROUD OF IT! =D
Man, that cat footage was intense.
Drop the coloration, and add something that actually gives me an idea of what's happening?
Good thing I just had taco bell, because it's time to shit all over this. 1. Sound production is atrocious. First thing you get when the video starts is an ear rape of bass boom, and everything afterwards doesn't mix well with eachother at all. 2. The fact that it doesn't have tits doesn't matter, and you just stereotyped a whole forum of people who will deliver you free boxes. 3. Your premise delivers an expectation that can't be fulfilled by the cheesy climax you gave out. Everything after the boring climax just seems hilarious compared to it. I would honestly shit myself out of fright if a skeleton popped out compared to this So, to sum it up: Nobody needs your explanation to know that you suck, the video says it pretty well. Come back when you learn how to mature a plot, or yourself, whichever comes first. Hope you enjoyed your criticism! =D
Yah I did. That's why I love face punch =) It never lies!
You literally blur the line between trolling and stupidity.
But what can you tell about color grading?Over the top?or over saturated?
It's boring and blue, like those artsy "old camera" pictures.
What part of the movie was boring exactly.to bluish? But if I will remove it the entire film feel will disappear.
The film didn't really have a plot more than "woman goes and hears door woman is gone the end." If the coloration is the entire film feel then you obviously need to work on it. The audio also definitely needs work, try cancelling out any sound specific to a room that you can, and tone the ambient sounds WAY down.
But what can you tell about color grading?Over the top?or over saturated?
Your grading does not fit the video, and it doesn't look intentional. Looks like someone forgot to take off some cellophane off the lens. It looks like you're faking HDR by compressing your dynamic range. Your blacks are grey, but they don't contain information. Making it look flat is fine, as long as it has something to show. It's like it was graded to hide detail.

They keep attention on the main character to draw the audience to LIKE the character. Your, erm, actress, walked to the door and vanished, end of story. There was no attachment to the character, basically.

Good work, definitely an improvement over your last videos. I feel like it could be spookier.
Damn dude I have the same kitchen knife set as you.
Good work, definitely an improvement over your last videos. I feel like it could be spookier.
Thank you.I probably watched all youtube videos of how to color correct and grade. Not a single video tells how to do it. Still thinking what my nikon d3100 can't record in same level with nikon t2i or t3i. By looking at t2i footage (or any Canon one's) the video looks so well balanced.Everything is so sharp and well colored.Dunno maybe it's my color grading skills are not at the point were it will look good but i haven't seen any video of d3100 which would be well color graded. All the fancy movies are coming from Canon't 550d or monster 5d mark 1-2-3.
if you start with crappy footage you aren't going to make it look uncrap
But thats the point. Nikon 3100 is a DSLR camera with video recording capability. The size of the sensor is little bit bigger than Canon crop sensor. So it is sort of advantage. But video recording bitrate is 20mbits/s but canon have 40.Well i still not sure if this is a case cuz looking at GoPro cam it have same 20 or even 15 mb/sec but some ppl still manage to get really good looking photage.
