Oh my gawd dey just gunned dat man doooooooooown they coulda taaaaased him
thought you cant post death? Might wanna snip.
"Oh, here we go again!" Man that guy sounded so resigned to that happening. What the fuck? What the fuck was that? Oh he had a knife? OK I thought he was completely unarmed. Still excessive force for the situation, but more reasonable than rolling up and shooting an unarmed man.
:c why does this have to happen
Jeeeesus fucking christ
thought you cant post death? Might wanna snip.
Thanks that serves me right for not reading the rules every couple of months.

He had a knife, but a good tazing would have likely taken him down or rendered him not a threat. That many shots was unnecessary.
Eh, nevermind. They just couldn't be sure what he would do next, and they more than likely had little to no time to switch over to their tazers anyway. Also, as he was moving towards them he looked as though he was within 20 feet of them. The 2 audible shots at him while he was on the ground were really unnecessary.
Seems like a suicide by cop.
Can you PM me the link OP?

The guy had a death wish, so it was certainly public and self defense for them. Just poor gun handling, I'd imagine their training would allow them to put him down in far less shots than that.
When people go "lol shoulda tazed" they don't seem to account situation intensity factors like having a knife wielding dude coming at you. Like people expect cops to be like terminators when making combat decisions.
21 ft rule.

Why do these people have to continue to be so stupid. What does he think walking towards a cop with a drawn weapon will accomplish? He's certainly on Instragram and Facebook now. Fucking dying over two sodas.
Knifes are no joke, it's incredibly easy to kill with. A few stabs, and you end up in hospital with major injuries. I probably would do the same thing.
They wouldn't of really had time to switch to a taser. Only option here was shooting him. It's a suicide by cop anyways.
Only one of them needed to switch to the taser, while the other still had his gun trained on him.
The situation would have been one cop stabbed while pulling out his tazer and another cop unable to fire on the attacker because his partner is under the attacker. I don't see why in any way the safety of an officer should be ignored so that someone who walks towards and disregards the command of an officer does not get shot.
why do they shoot so many times?
Only one of them needed to switch to the taser, while the other still had his gun trained on him.
Bonzai answered this perfectly. The amount of time required to holster your sidearm and then unholster your taser is enough for the attacker to close the distance and kill you. As a cop responding to a situation like this, their job is to control the situation, and you can't control it if you are holstering your weapon.
They exited the vehicle with their guns drawn, why couldn't one of them have drawn their taser instead?
Because usually, two cops exiting their car with guns drawn is enough to deterrent a man with a knife.
why do they shoot so many times?
It's not easy to quickly fire at someone who is coming towards you, and you do not get any kind of feedback that your shots have connected. Plus I am pretty sure someone and even I would not stop an attack because I have been shot at close range. If anything it would only drive the attacker to try harder.
