This is just a short and silly video I did in GMod a little while back. There's also something I never really figured out. I wanted to put a camera inside the wall, because when I noclipped into the wall myself to screenshot Wario's face and tweak it with the Face Poser, his face wouldn't update until I moved back outside the wall. I guess it's the game engine not knowing what to do when the current view is outside of the proper level geometry, but I can't put cameras in the noclip area because they just warp to the nearest proper location, and Nocollide World doesn't work on them. It's a bit after the fact, but would anyone know a way to put a camera through a wall? Alternatively, is there a console command I can use to see my coordinates and facing, or maybe an STool that lets you save a specific set of coordinates and warp there, so I could move outside a wall to make the face adjustments update and warp back to the same spot?
Using the Advanced Ballsocket tool set up like this (it won't actually have any ballsocket-y behaviour this way) and attaching the camera to the world will let you put it through the wall. The key is the No-Collide at the bottom (this works with anything else too, the nocollide world tool is really quite pointless if you know this trick). However in my experience normal cameras don't render things properly if they're outside the map. RT cameras seem to work fine.
That sounds handy, thanks! I don't remember seeing an Advanced Ballsocket tool in the Q menu though, is it under something else that comes with GMod, or do I need to download it?
Thank you for the video, it has made me tear up.
