Christ, he got very lucky he didn't hit on the other side of the track which is way more dangerous.
He really got lucky and he's only 17. That guy is good.

People younger than me are driving F1. Woah.

Doesn't surprise me. F1 brakes usually don't just 'suddenly stop working', they'll give warning signs throughout the race. Clear signs something is dreadfully wrong, such as huge, sooty clouds pouring out of just one wheel or excessive/inadequate brake temps on that corner.
I will admit I didn't watch the race. The new engines were such a massive disappointment that I cancelled the season pass for F1 on my TIVO. I can't enjoy the races when I'm seeing cars powered by engines operating at about half their potential.
