From what I have learned you hold the fucker just behind its head so it doesn't fucking bite you, basically you immobilize its head so it can't lash at you with it.

Also I have never heard of a snake with a poisonous tail what is he even smoking.

I didn't hear him say shit about a poisonous tail, he said that they can do it up to their tail. It's usually better to hold wild snakes out by the tail like that 'cause it's safer than trying to grab behind the head. If you can get them behind the head, it's better, but otherwise your just putting your hand in unnecessary danger.
