That's a shitload of stuff on the screen. I remember playing Rise of Nations, which, albeit a simpler game.. It was loads of fun. [sp]Until nukes became pretty much instagib rush..[/sp]
this looks pretty relaxing to play
I don't get it.
This is exactly the same city building game that's been around for over a decade. Pharaoh, Zeus, Caesar, the Anno series, Stronghold, Tropico, Settlers. Why the soft hype?

Because there's no bigger goal or campaign to drive you into that usual game funk of having to complete it.
All those games have a sandbox mode, though.
It just feels like we've reinvented the wheel after not having seen a real city builder come out for a few years.
That tree cutting sound is something I would never get tired of hearing. This looks so comfortable to play.
It's so fucking relaxing.
The weather in this is really well done. I have a soft spot for well made virtual rain.
Haven't felt hype this bad since Battlefield 3.
At least I know this won't bite back like a Pitbull when it comes out..
It's been so long since I've played a good city sim.
HD versions of Pharaoh and Caesar when.
February 18th is the release date!
Hope we get diagonal roads, though.

Todd confirmed for developer
I hope there is more life in those citizens because it honestly looks bland.
Cool but bland.
Stronghold's peasants felt alive, this feels kind of lifeless.

Curved roads would also be nice.
Curved roads would also be nice.
The game is grid based. Placing houses near curved roads isn't really easy but I guess it could work having 2 types of roads. Grid based and Free Mode (that makes it impossible to build on squares taken by a curved road)
[editline]16th January 2014[/editline]
So you have grid based for building your city, and free mode for linking your zones.

If I wait four days after it's released, happy fuckin' birthday to me :v:
I want this.
