Why would anyone do this to their dog anyways?
Some dogs actually like to take a dip in the water, especially in the heat; others don't and possibly end up a little traumatized.
Why would anyone do this to their dog anyways?
If you have a pool at home that the dogs can fall in, it's good to teach them where they can get out of the pool so they don't drown if they ever fall in.

Why would you put your children in a pool?
A dog is not a child
I had a gate to keep my dog from jumping in my pool
so he jumped over the side of the pool

Doesn't mean it can't learn to swim.

it's good exercise for dogs
dogs need exercise too
Do dogs really show fear through the same facial expressions as we do?
All the comments are people scolding the owner as if they were torturing the dog.
Towards the end, the dog looked like he/she was enjoying it.
I laugh at anyone who thinks this is mean. Its no more traumatizing than putting a small child in a pool for the first time.
Most all dogs can swim, some are better at it than others (and some even have webbed feet for it).

Teaching dogs to swim? That's really bizarre where I live..
Do dogs really show fear through the same facial expressions as we do?
I'm pretty sure that is how the dog looks. You can tell when he gets out, he still has the same facial expression mixed with how a dog acts when it's proud.

To drown them, duh.
Teaching dogs to swim? That's really bizarre where I live..
How is teaching a dog to swim animal cruelty? It didn't even look like it was in distress.

In soviet Russia, you make a lame joke and get executed.
