Isn't the whole pink ribbon thing just a huge scam posing as a charity too?

Any sources?
They are also pushing away smaller companies who actually want to help fund research and treatment, they are literally killing people just by existing. If the heads of this company aren't sociopaths than I don't know what is.

If you google "is pink ribbon a scam" there's a few items. I do not know how legit they are, hence why I'm asking.

A lot of charities are scammy. How much money that you give to this charity goes to Susan's paycheck. Why she got like a 70% raise and makes $700k a year. You donate to a cause and it just pays her
FYI Susan G. Komen died of breast cancer. The organization was named after her by her sister.
So they're using a dead woman's name to make money, even worse!

well there are a lot of charities that are named after a person who has died, not a unique situation

we had a thread where the topic came up a while ago, i remember people saying it was scammy because not enough money went into research, then some people said there's only so much research you can do and pouring money into it doesn't always make as much of a difference as people expect
i'm paraphrasing here and tbh i know nothing about this, but that's what i remember
I like what the navy does every year. We get a booklet with a shitload of organizations, with the amount they give to their cause right by their name and some basic information.
This is pretty much the problem with donating to any big charity though. The biggest ones are hardly anything more than advertisers that sell a cheap "we actually care" PR image to major corporations while scraping money off their clients. Rule of thumb is avoid the ones that are running massive ad campaigns and research where the money's going before you actually donate.

Usually having a charity named after you is an honor.
In this case however its permanently besmirching the name of the deceased.
I personally don't donate to any charities unless I know where the money is going. I also won't donate to cancer research charities because they aren't making enough progress with treatments that actually work (like cannabis extracts etc) and providing those to the people that need them instead of sending them off for another round of radiation like 99 times out of 100 for what it seems.
