This is super weird I don't understand.

Mummytroidvania?
So a movie license game looks better than the actual movie?
A lot to be said there, about the movie.
Yup. I gotta pick this baby up soon. Love me some Metroidvania goodness.
Before I read the full thread title I almost thought someone had completely removed the music for the entire mummy movie, leaving just the sound effects.
The only good thing to come out of the latest Mummy movie I suppose
By shmup i thought it meant it was like youre in a plane shootin things
I always liked the design of the new mummy

If anything shoot-em-up doesn't fully apply either since this is a bit of Contra mixed with a Metroidvania.
Looks exactly the same to me. Don't know what you're on about.
The reveal trailer seemed it had a much better production value put into it, also looked much more interesting without tieing so heavily on the branding of the movie on the trailer

Still looks like a solid game but it really feels Universal tried to push in their branding as much as they could after the reveal trailer
Wait, is that a fast zombie sound at 0:20

The fast zombie sound is just a pitched up stock scream.
update: bought the game, it's pretty good, second boss is super frustrating and tiresome and i have yet to beat him

It feels like a curse.
Either the movie is good and the game is shit or the game is shit and the movie is good.
Unless you're a dark wizard like Sam Raimi and they're both good.
this is actually super bizarre to me, i haven't looked into licensed games in a good long while but when are they not the top-selling genre of the month? they're either badly made first person shooters or, if you're going back in time a bit, generic platformer collectathons.
wayforward may not be the most indie dev out there but it's surprising to see them making a licensed movie game, even more surprising that movie producers gave their rights to such a game in the first place. i hope to see more licensed games like this, where it's clear a solid idea for the game came first, rather than a game having to be created for a movie.
It's WayFoward, I'm not surprised there's some quality here.
Looks pretty fun, though I don't quite understand the purpose of the 80s nostalgia vomit marketing is.
Really digging the music in the trailer, I haven't watched the new movie and don't think I will anytime soon, but this game looks really fun. I've been craving a good 2D metroidvania game since the DS Castlevania games.

You said the same thing twice
