This isnt the short btw, its actually being shown on wednesday
For a pre-short short, this was pretty damn incredible. Like RonthisTW said, whoever animates Junkrat does an incredible job. So much expression.
I watched the short and enjoyed it. Feels close to something Valve would've done with TF2 back in the day. I view the comments, and everyone is saying that either didn't like it, or that it was "animated in SFM." Viewing comments is always a mistake...
This had way more character than any other short they've done.
Because Roadhog and Junkrat are the only two characters in the game with good personality.
Because Roadhog and Junkrat are the only two characters in the game with good personality.
Junkrat has character flaws. Most other characters are pretty much perfect in every way.
Big props for Junkrat's VA, he puts a good work on that personality and voice
This reminds me so much of the Timon & Pumba cartoon, for some reason
Because Roadhog and Junkrat are the only two characters in the game with good personality.
what personality? I mean the animation was amazing but the characterization in this was pretty terrible. Basically they portrayed Junkrat as 3 things, likes money, likes explosives and is stupid. But the jokes were pretty shallow and not very creative with how they were written. Whoever did the animation/shots carried the humor as much as they could.
For a pre-short short, this was pretty damn incredible. Like RonthisTW said, whoever animates Junkrat does an incredible job.
You've been given a lot of story told in the first 45 seconds: They've been cast out for being too reckless, they're conniving scumbags in crime, and they're stubborn enough to want to kill the Queen of Junktown. You don't need to give out a complicated backstory about how they became this way or a huge plot progression that further enhances their character.
i'm mostly referring to the humor being bad and every punchline is a very shallow jab at either junkrat is dumb or likes explosives. (holding up 3 fingers when talking about two things, revealing their identity at the end) it's just cartoon stupidity that's not very creative.
I wouldn't mind seeing more shorts based of Junkrat and Roadhog's misadventures.

They're just two mercenaries who blow shit up. Every other character is straight forward to know what their cause is. Junkrat and Roadhog? They have no cause. That's why they're more interesting of characters imo.
It's crazy how good ingame models are getting. It's clearly not a movie but it's a far cry from the machinima days.
Because Roadhog and Junkrat are the only two characters in the game with good personality.
I have a severe dislike of Overwatch, how no one will ever shut the fuck up about it (between the media and its fanbase), and the fact that all of its characters are (in my opinion) boring in both design and personality. But I absolutely love Junkrat. If there were a not-Overwatch standalone game centered around just Junkrat (however that'd work), I'd play the shit out of it. The only reason I don't play Junkrat in Overwatch is it'd mean I have to deal with the rest of Overwatch. :v:

Man, I'm so happy the Timon and Pumbaa spinoff is getting a reboot after so many years, I can't wait

Don't know why you would even compare the two.
No one is pointing out that the scene with Junkrat explaining his plan is pretty much this scene from Shaun of the Dead
I don't see the Timon and Pumbaa connection myself aside from the fact Junk is skinny and Hog is obese. Like Timon isn't exactly insane and Pumbaa isn't some angry asshole who likes to murder people. Plus they aren't complete cowards, which are defining traits of Timon and Pumbaa. :v:
crossing my fingers for a full-length Junk n Hog short Wednesday
The ending gag was really, really lame but otherwise this was neat short
i was expecting the plan to have a part where they SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER

You could make it a narcotics user that loves jazz and hates him/herself and there would still be shit flung at it for not having personality or whatever the fuck people want. It ends up being a bonus when some random John shows up and says this, sounding like the masters of whatever.

So when can we expect BNFM (Battle Net Film Maker)?
So when can we expect BNFM (Battle Net Film Maker)?
I mean Jeff said that one of their long-term goals was a map editor so there's a chance.
