Sorry, can't embed from this site, but a quote from the soldier in the video. Shit is intense and worth the watch
I got a hit a total of 4 times. My helmet cam died and i made it down the mountain on my own. I was also hit in the side of my helmet and my eye pro was shot off of my face. We were doing overwatch on the village to recon and gather intel. I was point heading down the face of the hill with the LT. when we got hit. the rest of the squad was pinned down by machine gun fire. I didn't start the video until a few mins into the firefight for obvious reasons. I came out into the open to draw fire so my squad could get to safety.
A round struck the tube by my hand of the 203 grenade launcher which knocked it out of my hands. When I picked the rifle back up it was still functional but the grenade launcher tube had a nice sized 7.62 cal bullet hole in it and was rendered useless.
Embed thanks to Ninja Duck and his youtube skills, the link above is uncensored

These sorts of videos are very interesting.
Seeing the rounds hit just below his feet..

VERY INTERESTING? That's just about the very LEAST you can say about it! Words like "exciting" and "terrifying" are what come to mind when you're dealing with a video shot in first person of a man getting shot four times!
EDIT:
What's with all the dumbs? People don't find this exciting or terrifying? I was worried for this guy all the way through...

I dunno i think the least you could say was "it was a video".

Here's the YouTube upload.
Pretty scary. Can't be fun finding yourself completely out in the open like that will bullets landing all around you.

I generally find these videos interesting but the fuming retards in the comments turns me off from watching them.
Im sort of surprised how slowly he was walking while bullets where hitting around his feet
why is it censored?

he's probably carrying a fuckload of gear, I'm sure he would be sprinting like a mofo if he could

Add 40kg of shit on your back to unstable, uneven terrain as well as fatigue and it wouldn't be too easy.
Mountain warfare seems like some pretty scary shit.
Edit: Sorry well I mean any type of combat is intense and frightening of course.
this guy is a complete fucking badass
[editline]26th September 2012[/editline]
i mean. dude, he was charging through fire. they're most likely firing 7.62 rounds which are fucking massive.. probably why they couldn't fuckin hit him either
[editline]26th September 2012[/editline]
but if i found myself in that position, like i was the only chance my squad had, i see it going down exactly like it did for him, if i didn't fuckin die.
imagine doing something that fucking daring and unfucking the situation in the process all in front of your buddies. dude this guy is going to be a company legend for at least a decade.
For him to voluntarily put himself out like that and draw fire so the rest of his squad could get to safety is incredibly brave of him.
Jesus christ, I can't believe he held his ground like that under all that pressure. And when he did get to cover, all could find was a rock. That was intense.
I like the people typing safely from their safe homes, on there computers, with an internet connection, calling this guy a pussy because he kept "crying" that he was hit.
I really dont get what goes through peoples heads like that, how can you say anything against a guy under fire on a fucking OPEN mountain, who got shot, then his gun shot out of hands, laying helpful behind a rock.
Then he lived.
shouldnt he get a purple heart for this
assuming his squad got out okay
Why does he crouch on the top of the hill without taking any cover?
i think because there wasn't any decent cover near by. either that or he's a fearless mofo.
He better get a pretty ribbon or something
Why does he crouch on the top of the hill without taking any cover?
Stability while shooting, I guess
You're also a smaller target crouching.
Kinda reckless leaving himself in the open like that...Lucky he didn't get hurt.
Is he even aiming.

To return fire. Life isn't a cover-based shooter where there are waist high obstacles everywhere to get behind. There are long stretches of terrain with no real cover.
You still have to shoot back, though. Especially when the enemy is reloading. You want to cover your buddies so that they can advance or get to cover unmolested.
Give a medal of honor to this man please.

I know that, I was just wondering why he was walking so much around in the open.
This guy is very, very, ridiculously lucky to be alive. He did everything wrong and somehow lived. Go figure.

Well the video said he was drawing fire for his buddies. He can't really run since he is going down hill with a bunch of gear. So basically he is stuck walking down the hill towards the ambush. It might not be a preferable situation, but it was obviously the best plan he could conceive on the spot.

I don't know that he did that much wrong at all.
It's generally the best strategy to move towards the ambush in the first place. It makes the most sense. The problem is that he was moving downhill which obviously limited his ability to move quickly.

Drawing down the fire, he wanted to be noticed.
Is he even aiming.
Pretty sure he's aiming.
The camera isn't on his eye, you aren't seeing exactly what he's seeing.
[editline]26th September 2012[/editline]
Unless you're talking about the bit in the middle, that doesn't really look like he was aiming.
