I don't care for Titanfall, so I just learned through this video that the single player protagonist is called Jack. We all know EA is uncreative as fuck, but if there's something they're worst at, it's names. Not just names for the games that got rebooted (Star Wars Battlefront, Sim City, Need for Speed), but especially the character names. I don't think there is any US name more uncreative than Jack (for a fictional story, no insults to all Jacks out there).
And it annoys me. I noticed it first when I played NFS The Run which has characters named Jack, Sam and of course there is a Mexican guy called Cesar.
If it's a common name, it's realistic to use it, but fictional stories are not supposed to mimic real life as much as a simulator. If you want a memorable character, give him at least a unique name.
Sorry, but I had to get this off my chest.
Characters name is Jack 0/10 get titanfall away from me

I don't think EA chooses the names of the characters in the games they produce.
I mean we all know E3 has been a hammy mess for years but the whole video was bitching except for like three things. Why even.

So summed up that he skilled Call of Duty entirely.

Wasn't Jack's likeness also used for MW and Carbon as the guy in the driver seat?
Iirc, they looked very much alike.
I just assumed they named him Jack Cooper as a way to highlight that he was a generic foot soldier at first (like the grunts we see in the first Titanfall) who just so happened to end up linking up with a titan due to circumstances.
