The irony is that, people can't put effort into verify information such as looking if someone else has mentioned it before. Unless the OP is making a joke on just this point.
It would be funny to repeated post this on forums over the year saying it's new with a different title each time.

I don't even like John Oliver, but this was good, so okay?

You don't understand, John Oliver is a meme now. And once the internet can critisize someone by quoting a meme, it's game over.
I fucking hate it when people say that "the current year argument is a logical fallacy." Like, it's not even an argument, it's a rhetorical statement.

Except his arguments are demonstratably shit a lot of the time. Although, I do have to say that I still enjoy his show and most of the time he IS spot-on.
For some reason when someone becomes a meme hes either entirely wrong or infallible due to the meme counter-culture.

Oh, that is why I usually don't like him that much. Too many people, who somehow consider themselves to be well-informed, rely on comedians to get their news, which is a surefire way to not know about stuff. But that doesn't mean he is the cancer of the earth like some people seem to think or that he is always wrong.
The scientist at the very end sounded like Bob from Bob's Burgers
