I've missed the glorious bastard, we really could've used his commentary this election year.
That's why I miss Jon. He just has a way of putting it that Trevor Noah unfortunately doesn't, or maybe doesn't yet.
There's nothing wrong with Trevor but moments like this remind us of how much better Jon is than anyone else at this.
That was fantastic - I can't believe it has been almost 12months.
He's still got it

Trevor really tries too hard to be funny at times.
Jon really had the perfect mix of comedy and actual, passionate anger about certain subject.
Trevor is witty, Trevor can deliver a line.
Jon Stewart is a comedian, and thus has a window on life and experience most people don't.
Jon, we miss you. I miss you. Please just come back. I'm no longer complete without you. </3
If anything I'd say he's even better now than he was on the Daily Show, he has so much confidence and energy. Probably because he's a one-off guest cameo and he doesn't have to give a fuck, but still.

Trevor Noah is a comedian too, you know.
I've rewatched this like 10 times because it's extremely satisfying hearing him tear into the GOP, and how they now must endorse this awful candidate. But the worst was the end with the false "blue lives matter rhetoric" and how he's seen it firsthand how they lie. Stewart was extremely passionate about the bill, and that anger at the end was very much real.
We need you now more than ever, Jon

Have you seen his live stuff? He tells jokes. He does not commentate on society and the merry go round of life. There is a world of difference between the two. CC expected him to be on the politics needle because of where he was from, and he wanted the job and that's about as far as their research went.

To my shame I forgot about the 9/11 first responders bill. Add that to the pile of "Reasons never to vote Republican ever"
jon should start a vlog series or something, just release whatever he wants to say when he feels like it

Honestly, I think Jon should take over Last Week Tonight from John Oliver.
John just seems more and more cringey and obnoxious the more I really watch his stuff.

My only problem with Trevor is that somehow, his brand of humour doesn't seem to convey the same sense that Jon's did.
With Jon, it would be "haha, look at these idiots. <proceeds to tear into them>". With Jon, there was a certain degree of frustration that you could sense, something that I suspect most Americans connected with him on. The fact that the system Jon was discussing was horrifically broken.
With Trevor, it somehow comes across as "Lol u Americans suck" which as an outsider myself, seems very...off. I'm not even American but watching Trevor on screen makes me reflexively want to raise my hackles and say "Hey, you're not from here, fuck you." It's not even a vibe that John Oliver manages to give across, but Trevor does.
Granted, he's new, but still...it'll never be the same and I'm not fond of the new style. I tried my damnedest to keep watching the series but it's been irreversibly tainted since Jon left.

he retired so he wouldn't be working so much and would have more time to spend with his family
if he did a vlog series he could still comment on things but on his terms and no one else's

I was about to click disagree but then I imagined LWT with Stewart instead of Oliver with the exact same structure but written to fit Stewart and it looked and sounded so much better.

I still like watching John's show because they bring up interesting issues and always make good points about it but the humour doesn't work at all. Especially when John pretends to be angry. That's just the worst.
